The Smile Fungus Addon is a Bedrock addon by XAIER, based on the analog horror series of the same name. Meteors seed a spreading fungus, humans mutate into smiling infected, and a brain block fights back. It works on Bedrock only and needs no experimental functions.
Supported versions
- Minecraft 1.21.124 to 26.3.
What it adds
Meteors do not explode. They leave smile fungus blocks that spread across nearby blocks, and they appear only when the world is on hard difficulty. The more cheerful an infected human looks, the more aggressive it is.
- Variant A is the common infected. After stage three it ages rapidly and dies to spread the infection. A child variant exists.
- Variant C is a rare mutation of a stage three Variant A. It can drop a Smile Fungus Eye Fragment at stage 5, and at stage 7 it attacks at range and in melee.
- The rare Exploter variant leaves a corpse that spreads fungus blocks and inflicts wither on players without a mask equipped.
- Cities generate like a biome from five layouts, with loot inside and missiles that burn smile blocks.
- The Smile Fungus biome spawns the most advanced infected, along with smile flowers and turrets.
The brain and the Mycotalamus
Burnt smile blocks, made by fungus bombs or missiles, can host a Mycotalamus meteor. Its open flowers turn into a brain if left alone. The brain grows shells, eye turrets and neurophages, and staying in its range for 2 minutes births the Mycotalamus guardian. Its Neuroa fragment, combined with brain blocks, crafts the Synaptic Catalyst, which needs the Smile Fungus Hat Brain worn to give a knockback attack and neurophage allies.
Fire clears the blocks, though the fungus sometimes eats the flames. Fungicide bombs turn them into inert smile fungus, a decorative block that does not spread and works as a perimeter around a base.

Questions about The Smile Fungus Addon.
3 questions
Does The Smile Fungus Addon need experimental toggles?
No. The creator states that no experimental functions are needed, so you can import the pack and switch it on in the world settings without touching the Experiments section. It is still a beta, so features may change between updates, but it is described as completely playable in survival.
Why are no meteors appearing in my world?
Small and large meteors only appear when your world is in hard mode. Meteors do not cause explosions. They leave smile fungus blocks behind, and those blocks spread the infection. Burnt smile blocks, made by fungus bombs or missiles, can also host a Mycotalamus meteor, which comes from a different source than the small and large ones.
How do I stop the smile fungus from spreading?
Fire burns the blocks quickly, though the fungus can sometimes eat the flames. Fungicide bombs are more effective, converting smile fungus blocks into inert smile fungus. That decorative block is harmless and does not spread, so it also works as a perimeter that keeps the infection away from your base.
