Water & Temperature System is a survival addon for Minecraft Bedrock that adds thirst and body temperature, two systems that feed into each other. FoxyFall's pack reads the biome, weather, time of day and your armor, then shows a thermometer and a thirst bar on the HUD. It is Bedrock only and needs no other pack.

Supported versions

  • Minecraft 1.21 to 26.50.

How temperature works

Your body moves through five states, from Very Cold to Very Hot. The addon scans over 100 block types around you to rate the biome, then adjusts for night, altitude, roof cover, nearby campfires, lava, torches and furnaces, rain, and swimming. Leather suits the cold. Heavy metal armor in a desert traps heat, and netherite insulates poorly but will not cook you.

Very Cold brings Slowness II, mining fatigue and freezing damage under a frost overlay. Very Hot brings Hunger II, weakness and fire damage under a heat overlay. Fire Resistance blocks heat damage outright. Rain builds chill the longer you stand under open sky, you stay damp for a while after finding cover, and a campfire dries you faster. Any solid roof works, leaves and glass do not.

How thirst works

Walking, sprinting and jumping drain water, and sprinting costs nearly double. Deserts drain 60% faster, the Nether twice as fast, snowy biomes 40% slower. Fruits, stews and soups restore thirst, while bread, cooked meat and dried kelp make it worse. Below 6 thirst you get Slowness IV, below 2 nausea, and at 0 you take damage.

Guide book and difficulty

Every player receives a guide book on first join. It explains both systems and holds the difficulty selector, which is shared by everyone on the world. A lost book can be crafted from a book and paper.

  • Easy slows thirst, pulls in the extremes and halves freezing and heat damage.
  • Normal is the pack as designed.
  • Hard drains thirst faster, pushes the extremes out and raises temperature damage.
  • Match World Difficulty is the default and follows your world setting.

Installation

  1. 1.Open the .mcaddon file with Minecraft so it imports.
  2. 2.Create or edit a world and switch the pack on under Behavior Packs and Resource Packs.
  3. 3.Join the world and read the guide book.

Questions about Water & Temperature System.

4 questions

How do I install Water & Temperature System on Bedrock?

Open the .mcaddon file with Minecraft so it imports, then edit your world and activate the pack under Behavior Packs and Resource Packs. On Windows you can double-click the file. On phones and tablets, choose Minecraft when opening it. The newest file lists no required dependencies.

How do I change the difficulty of thirst and temperature?

Use the selector at the top of the guide book every player receives on first join. Choices are Easy, Normal, Hard and Match World Difficulty, which is the default. The choice is shared by everyone on the world, so agree on it before you start.

What restores thirst in Water & Temperature System?

Fruits and soups restore thirst, including melons, berries, apples and stews. Dry foods such as bread, cooked meat and dried kelp make you thirstier. Being Very Hot drains thirst 80% faster, while being Very Cold slows it by 40%. The guide book has a chapter on finding and purifying water.

Which armor keeps you warm in this addon?

Leather is the pick for cold-weather gear. Heavy metal armor traps heat, so wearing it in a desert makes you hotter. Netherite is the exception, since it insulates poorly but will not cook you. Fire Resistance blocks heat damage and its debuffs outright.
