Customizable Elevators is a Minecraft data pack that turns any vertical shaft into a working elevator. Instead of a fixed block or model, you choose the blocks for the cabin, the doors, and the climbing rope yourself, then set floor stops and call buttons with in-game selector tools. It targets Minecraft Java 1.21.6 through 1.21.11 and needs the companion MIDWUT library data pack to run.
Building your elevator
Every part of the elevator is defined in-game rather than pre-built. An Elevator Selector marks the cabin area, a Stop Setter marks each floor, a Rope Selector accepts any climbable block for the shaft, and a Doors Selector links a door block to each floor. Call buttons can carry custom floor labels, so multi-floor builds stay readable at a glance.
- Cabin, doors, and rope built from player-chosen blocks, not a fixed model
- Floor stops set individually with the Stop Setter tool
- Call buttons support custom per-floor text labels
- Crafting an Elevator Station item starts the setup process
- Works the same way in singleplayer worlds and on dedicated servers
Installation
- 1.Download Customizable Elevators and the required MIDWUT library from Modrinth, matching the same Minecraft version and loader.
- 2.For a pure data pack setup, drop both files into your world's (or server's) datapacks folder.
- 3.For a Fabric, NeoForge, or Quilt setup, drop both files into your mods folder instead.
- 4.Load the world or restart the server, running /reload if you added the files to a world that is already open.
- 5.Craft an Elevator Station to start building your first elevator.
Questions about this entry.
How do I install Customizable Elevators?
Download it and the required MIDWUT library from Modrinth for the same Minecraft version, then drop both into your world's or server's datapacks folder, or the mods folder for the Fabric, NeoForge, or Quilt build. Run /reload if the world is already open.
Does Customizable Elevators need MIDWUT to work?
Yes. MIDWUT is a required companion data pack that Customizable Elevators depends on for its functions and crafting recipe. Install both together and keep them on matching versions.
Does Customizable Elevators work on multiplayer servers?
Yes, it runs server-side and works the same way in singleplayer worlds and on dedicated servers. Any player on the server can build and use their own elevators once the pack is loaded.
Which Minecraft version does Customizable Elevators support?
The current release supports Minecraft Java 1.21.6 through 1.21.11. Check the version list on Modrinth before installing on an older release.
Can I use Customizable Elevators without a mod loader?
Yes. It ships as a standard data pack in addition to Fabric, NeoForge, and Quilt mod builds, so a mod loader is optional if you install it directly into the datapacks folder.
