Apotheosis is an adventure and RPG content mod for NeoForge, with older Forge releases that have since stopped. It runs on both sides, so singleplayer worlds and multiplayer hosts both need it. The Apotheosis mod layers affixed gear, gems, sockets and a difficulty ladder over vanilla systems without taking over play.
Loaders and versions
- NeoForge: Minecraft 1.20.1 to 26.1.2. The newest build requires Apothic Enchanting, Placebo, Patchouli, Apothic Attributes and Apothic Spawners, optionally Just Enough Items (JEI), Enchantment Descriptions, Jade π and Max Health Fix; builds for 1.20.1 require Placebo, Patchouli and Apothic Attributes.
- Forge: Minecraft 1.16.5 to 1.20.1, builds stopped after April 2025. The newest build requires Placebo, Patchouli and Apothic Attributes, optionally Just Enough Items (JEI), The One Probe, Enchantment Descriptions, Game Stages, Curios API, Jade π and Max Health Fix; some builds for 1.19.2 require Placebo and Patchouli; some builds for 1.16.5 to 1.19.2 require Enchantment Descriptions, Placebo and Patchouli; some builds for 1.18.2 require Enchantment Descriptions, Placebo, Patchouli and Max Health Fix; some builds for 1.18.1 require Placebo.
What the adventure module adds
Any item, vanilla or modded, can carry affixes, which work like enchantments under different rules. Rarity decides which affixes an item receives and how strong they are. Loot chests and random mobs drop them.
- Salvaging Table: breaks affix items into rarity materials.
- Reforging Table: spends those materials, plus gems, to craft affix items.
- Gems and sockets: gems add bonuses specific to each item type. A Sigil of Withdrawal removes one, and a Sigil of Socketing adds a socket.
- Chronicle of Shadows: the in-game guidebook, crafted from a book and a gold ingot. Alongside Just Enough Items, it documents every feature.
World Tiers and invaders
Press Ctrl+T to open the World Tier screen. The five tiers run Haven, Frontier, Ascent, Summit and Pinnacle, each with unlock criteria, and Summit opens only after you kill the Wither. Higher tiers bring better loot, but every enemy gets stronger too.
Installation
- 1.Install NeoForge for the release you want, following the Forge and NeoForge guide.
- 2.Place the Apotheosis file and every required library in the mods folder.
- 3.Launch with the NeoForge profile and craft the Chronicle of Shadows to see what is enabled.
General steps are in the mod installation guide.
Questions about Apotheosis.
4 questions
Does Apotheosis work on Fabric?
No. Releases exist only for NeoForge and Forge. Forge releases stopped after April 2025, so NeoForge is the loader that still receives updates. Fabric players need to look at a different mod for similar gear progression.
Do I need Apotheosis on both sides in multiplayer?
Yes. The files are tagged for both sides, so the host and every player should run the same release with the same libraries.
What are World Tiers in Apotheosis?
World Tiers are a five-step progression system: Haven, Frontier, Ascent, Summit and Pinnacle. Higher tiers drop better affix gear but strengthen every enemy. Summit unlocks only after you defeat the Wither.
How do I find out what Apotheosis changes?
Craft the Chronicle of Shadows from a book and a gold ingot. It lists the active content in-game, and with Just Enough Items installed every feature is documented. Disabled content does not appear in it.
