AzureLib is an animation engine for Minecraft Java that runs on Fabric, NeoForge, Quilt and Forge. It is a branch derived from GeckoLib 4.x, and other mods use it to give custom items, blocks and entities Bedrock-style models with animation. It has to be installed on both the client and the server.
Loaders and versions
- Fabric: Minecraft 1.15.2 to 26.3. The newest build needs no dependencies; some builds for 1.15.2 to 1.20.2 require Fabric API.
- NeoForge: Minecraft 1.20.1 to 26.3. The newest build needs no dependencies.
- Quilt: Minecraft 1.18.2 to 1.21.1. The newest build needs no dependencies; some builds for 1.18.2 to 1.20.2 require Fabric API.
- Forge: Minecraft 1.15.2 to 1.20.1. The newest build needs no dependencies.
What AzureLib provides
AzureLib does nothing on its own. It is a library, so its value shows up in the mods that depend on it. For those mods it supplies the animation toolkit:
- Complex 3D keyframe-driven animations
- More than 30 easing functions
- Concurrent animation capabilities
- Sound and particle keyframes
- Event-based keyframes
Installing AzureLib
Install the loader that matches your Minecraft release first. The Java mod install guide covers the general routine.
- 1.Pick the file built for your loader and Minecraft release from the Modrinth page.
- 2.Place the mod file in the mods folder of your Minecraft directory, on the client and on the server.
- 3.Add any dependency listed for your loader and release range.
- 4.Start Minecraft with the loader's profile.
Trade-offs and developer notes
AzureDoom focuses on maintaining and supporting AzureLib and gives no help for GeckoLib. Developers who want to build on AzureLib will find the Gradle setup steps, a wiki at wiki.azuredoom.com and the issue tracker on the AzureDoom/AzureLib GitHub repository. Contributors to the project include DerToaster98 and ZigyTheBird.
Questions about AzureLib.
4 questions
What is AzureLib used for?
AzureLib is an animation library for Minecraft Java mods. Mod authors use it to animate custom items, blocks and entities from Bedrock-style models, with keyframes, easing functions, and sound or particle triggers.
Is AzureLib the same as GeckoLib?
No. AzureLib is a branch derived from GeckoLib 4.x, but it is a separate project maintained by AzureDoom. AzureDoom focuses on maintaining and supporting AzureLib and offers no help for GeckoLib. AzureLib provides keyframe-driven animations, over 30 easing functions, and sound and particle keyframes for mods that depend on it.
Does AzureLib need to be installed on the server?
Yes. AzureLib is required on both the client and the server, so add the same mod to both mods folders before starting. The newest build for each loader lists no dependencies, so no extra library file is needed for it. Older Fabric and Quilt builds can differ, as the loaders section above shows.
Which loaders does AzureLib support?
AzureLib ships for Fabric, NeoForge, Quilt and Forge. Each loader covers a different span of Minecraft releases, and the exact ranges are listed in the loaders section above. Download the file that matches your loader and your Minecraft release.
