Better Days is a Java mod that fixes the famously short vanilla day. It lets you set day and night length separately, and it can replace the bed skip with a gradual speed-up of time. It runs on Fabric, NeoForge and Forge, and it must be installed on both sides in multiplayer.
Loaders and versions
- Fabric: Minecraft 1.18.2 to 26.3. The newest build requires Fabric API, optionally Ready Player Fun, Fabric Seasons, Creeper Fireworks Mod, Overlay: Compass Light Biome Season & More, Charged Charms, Survivalist Essentials, Homeostatic Seasons, Homeostatic, Actually Harvest and Mob Champions.
- NeoForge: Minecraft 1.20.1 to 26.3. The newest build needs no dependencies, optionally Ready Player Fun, Magical Psi: Revival, Tinkers' Survival, Creeper Fireworks Mod, Comforts, Overlay: Compass Light Biome Season & More, Charged Charms, Serene Seasons, Survivalist Essentials, Homeostatic Seasons, Homeostatic, Actually Harvest and Mob Champions.
- Forge: Minecraft 1.18.2 to 1.20.1. The newest build needs no dependencies, optionally Ready Player Fun, Magical Psi: Revival, Tinkers' Survival, Creeper Fireworks Mod, Overlay: Compass Light Biome Season & More, Charged Charms, Survivalist Essentials, Homeostatic and Actually Harvest.
What it changes
Vanilla gives you a 20-minute day. Better Days can stretch that to match a real-life day, or shorten nights so they pass faster. In multiplayer, sleeping players speed time up in proportion to how many are in bed, so no vote or threshold is needed.
- Independent day and night speeds.
- Optional sleep replacement that accelerates time instead of skipping it.
- Time effects that scale crop growth, grass growth, weather, potion effects, furnaces and hoppers to the current time speed. Most are off by default.
Compatibility and conflicts
It is listed as compatible with Homeostatic, Ready Player Fun, Fabric Seasons, Enhanced Celestials, Comforts and Serene Seasons. Sleep Warp and Sleep Tight switch the Better Days sleep system off when present.
Install and trade-offs
- 1.Pick the file for your loader and release, following the Java mod install guide if you are new to loaders.
- 2.Put the files in the mods folder and launch with the loader's profile.
- 3.On a multiplayer world, install the mod on the host and on every player.
Only the Overworld is supported, though most dimensions take their time from it. Commands and the Forge-only config screen were removed, and config changes are no longer synced to players, so a restart is needed after editing. The mod writes nothing to world files and can be removed safely.
Questions about Better Days.
4 questions
Why can't I lengthen the days with Better Days?
Config changes are no longer synced to players and need a restart to apply, so edit the file and restart fully. Also check for conflicts. Immersive Snow overrides day and night length by default when a season mod is present, and it is not compatible in that setup.
Is it safe to remove Better Days from a world?
Yes. The mod does not save data to world files, so it can be removed from an installation without affecting the world. Remove the file from the mods folder on the host and on each player, since it is required on both sides in multiplayer.
How do I turn off the Better Days sleep feature?
Set the enableSleepFeature option to false in the config file. Do this when another mod handles sleep, such as Quark's Improved Sleeping module or Morpheus. Sleep Warp and Sleep Tight disable the Better Days sleep system on their own.
Does Better Days work on multiplayer worlds?
Yes, and it is required on both the host and the players. Sleep speeds time up in proportion to the share of players in bed, so no sleep vote or player threshold is needed.
