Comforts is a Minecraft Java mod that adds sleeping bags and hammocks in 16 dye colors, letting players rest through the night and skip to day without setting a new spawn point. It runs on Fabric, Forge, NeoForge, and Quilt, needs no other mods installed, and works on both the client and the server.
What Comforts changes in-game
A sleeping bag works like a bed for skipping the night, but it never resets a player's spawn point, so it suits a boat camp, a mining outpost, or any shelter that is not meant to become home base. A hammock does the same job while reading as camping gear rather than a bed. Both items come in all 16 dye colors and craft from wool and string, no separate crafting station required. Comforts has been downloaded more than 22 million times on Modrinth, and TheIllusiveC4, who also maintains the SpectreLib library the mod bundles, has kept it updated since 2017.
Which loader and Minecraft version to pick
Comforts ships separate builds for Fabric, Forge, NeoForge, and Quilt, and the four are not on the same schedule. Fabric and NeoForge both reached the current 26.2 release in June 2026. Forge trails behind at 1.21.11, last built in March 2026. Quilt is furthest behind: its newest build only reaches 1.20.1, published in July 2024, so a Quilt world on a newer Minecraft version will need a loader switch to keep using Comforts.
- Fabric: current through 26.2, released June 2026
- NeoForge: current through 26.2, released June 2026
- Forge: current through 1.21.11, released March 2026
- Quilt: current through 1.20.1 only, released July 2024
Installing Comforts
Comforts is standalone: it does not require Fabric API, a Forge config library, or any other mod to run. Install the loader that matches your target Minecraft version first, then add the matching Comforts build.
- 1.Install Fabric, Forge, NeoForge, or Quilt for your target Minecraft version.
- 2.Download the Comforts build for that loader and version from Modrinth.
- 3.Place the jar file in the mods folder for your game install and, for multiplayer, your server install.
- 4.Launch Minecraft. Sleeping bags and hammocks craft the same way regardless of loader.
Comforts is a Java Edition mod, not a Bedrock add-on
Comforts is built for Minecraft Java Edition only, and TheIllusiveC4 has not released a Bedrock version. Players who search for Comforts on Bedrock will find an add-on called Comforts Addon on MCPEDL. That is an unofficial third-party recreation made by a different creator, not a Bedrock release from this project, and not the source this page links to.

Questions about Comforts.
5 questions
How do I install Comforts?
Install Fabric, Forge, NeoForge, or Quilt that matches your Minecraft version, then place the matching Comforts jar in the mods folder for both the game client and the server. Comforts needs no other mods, so no extra library downloads are required beyond the loader itself.
Does Comforts work with Forge, Fabric, NeoForge, and Quilt?
Yes, but not at the same version. Fabric and NeoForge both currently reach 26.2, Forge stops at 1.21.11, and Quilt has not had a new build since 1.20.1. Check the version list on Modrinth for your loader before picking a Minecraft version to build a world around.
Does Comforts require Fabric API or another mod?
No. Comforts is a standalone mod with no required dependencies beyond the loader itself, so it installs the same way whether or not other mods are present in your instance.
Is there a Comforts mod for Bedrock Edition?
Not from this project. Comforts is Java Edition only. A separate, unofficial add-on called Comforts Addon exists for Bedrock on MCPEDL, made by a different creator, and it is not connected to TheIllusiveC4's mod.
Does Comforts work on multiplayer servers?
Yes. Comforts is required on both the client and the server rather than being a client-only cosmetic. Install the same loader and Comforts build on the server that players use locally, or the connection will fail to sync colors and item behavior.
