Better F1 Reborn changes what the F1 key does in Minecraft Java. Instead of a single on/off switch, F1 gains an intermediate state that hides the HUD but keeps your held item visible. It runs on Fabric and NeoForge and only needs to be installed on the player's side.
Loaders and versions
- Fabric: Minecraft 1.17 to 26.3. The newest build needs no dependencies; some builds for 1.21 to 1.21.1 require Fabric API.
- NeoForge: Minecraft 1.20.6 to 26.3. The newest build needs no dependencies.
What the F1 key does now
Better F1 Reborn turns off the HUD elements while held items are still displayed.
Pressing F1 cycles through three display modes, in this order:
- 1.No hidden UI, the normal view.
- 2.Only hidden UI, the HUD is gone and held items remain.
- 3.All hidden UI.
Installation
- 1.Install Fabric or NeoForge for the Minecraft release you play. The guides for Fabric and Forge and NeoForge cover it.
- 2.Pick the file that matches your loader and Minecraft release from the Modrinth page.
- 3.Drop the .jar into the mods folder inside your game directory, .minecraft/mods by default.
- 4.Launch with the loader's profile and press F1 in a world.

What does Better F1 Reborn change?
It adds a middle state to the F1 key. Pressing F1 cycles between no hidden UI, only hidden UI, and all hidden UI. In the middle state the HUD disappears while the item in your hand stays visible, which suits screenshots and recordings.
Does Better F1 Reborn need to be installed on a server?
No. It is a player-side mod, required on the player's side and not supported on servers. Install it in your own mods folder, and a server does not need a copy for it to work.
Which loaders does Better F1 Reborn support?
It is built for Fabric and NeoForge. There are no builds for other loaders, so it will not load on a Forge or Quilt setup. Pick the file that matches both your loader and your Minecraft release.
