Better Mods Button is a Minecraft Java mod for NeoForge and Forge that adds the mods button back to the pause screen, as in Forge releases before Minecraft 1.13. It gives you quick access to in-game mod configuration whenever a mod offers it. It runs on the client only.
Loaders and versions
- NeoForge: Minecraft 1.20.4 to 26.1.2. The newest build needs no dependencies.
- Forge: Minecraft 1.18.2 to 1.21.4. The newest build needs no dependencies; some builds for 1.20 require Puzzles Lib.
What it changes
Placement is configurable, with plenty of options for where and how the button is shown on screen. The options were heavily inspired by Mod Menu from ProspectorDev, who is credited for most of the configuration ideas.
- Choose where and how the button is shown on screen.
- Toggle the update notification glyph.
Installation
- 1.Install NeoForge or Forge for the Minecraft release you play. The Forge and NeoForge guide walks through it.
- 2.Put the mod's .jar file in the mods folder of your game directory, as covered in the Java mod installation guide.
- 3.Launch with the loader's profile and open the pause screen to find the button.
Configuration and limits
Options can be changed directly in-game with the separate Config Menus for Forge mod.
Questions about Better Mods Button.
4 questions
Does Better Mods Button work on Fabric?
No. It is built for NeoForge and Forge only. The creator has no Fabric port and points Fabric players to Mod Menu by ProspectorDev, which fills a similar role and inspired most of this mod's placement options.
How do I configure Better Mods Button?
Install the Config Menus for Forge mod and you can change the options directly in-game.
Does Better Mods Button need to be installed on multiplayer servers?
No. It is a client-side mod and server use is unsupported. Install it only on your own machine, in the mods folder of the profile you launch with NeoForge or Forge.
Why is there no mods button on my pause screen?
This mod adds the mods button back to the pause screen, as in Forge versions before Minecraft 1.13. It is built for NeoForge and Forge only, so check that the jar matches your loader and Minecraft release, and that you launched with the loader's profile.
