Regions Unexplored is a worldgen mod for Minecraft Java Edition that adds 64 new biomes across the Overworld and Nether. Expect towering Redwood Forests, stark Chalk Cliffs, and arid Saguaro Deserts above ground, plus underground Redstone Caves and Prismachasms and Nether-native ground like the Blackstone Basin. Fabric and NeoForge builds track current Minecraft releases through 26.1.2, the mod requires Lithostitched (and Fabric API on Fabric), and it must run on both the client and the server.

Biome List

Regions Unexplored spans multiple climate zones across two dimensions. The mod has no official complete biome list published yet, but these names are confirmed in the project's own gallery and changelog:

  • Overworld (surface): Wisteria Grove, Saguaro Desert, Joshua Desert, Chalk Cliffs, Redwoods, Blackwood Forest, Fungal Fen
  • Overworld (underground): Redstone Caves, Prismachasm
  • Nether: Blackstone Basin and additional Nether variants

How to Install Regions Unexplored

  1. 1.Install a supported mod loader for your Minecraft version: Fabric, Forge, NeoForge, or Quilt.
  2. 2.Download Lithostitched from Modrinth for the same loader and Minecraft version. It is a required dependency.
  3. 3.On Fabric, also download Fabric API from Modrinth. NeoForge, Forge, and Quilt builds don't need it.
  4. 4.Download Regions Unexplored from Modrinth, matching loader and version.
  5. 5.Place every .jar file in the mods/ folder of your game instance.
  6. 6.On a server, install every required mod server-side too. The mod needs matching files on both sides.

Loader and Version Compatibility

  • Fabric: actively updated, the latest 0.7.0 builds support Minecraft 26.1, 26.1.1, and 26.1.2. Requires Lithostitched and Fabric API.
  • NeoForge: actively updated alongside Fabric, also reaching Minecraft 26.1.2. Requires Lithostitched; Fabric API is not needed.
  • Forge: last released for Minecraft 1.21.1 in March 2025, no builds beyond that version.
  • Quilt: last released for Minecraft 1.20.4 in March 2024, no newer builds since.
  • Required dependency: Lithostitched 1.7.9 or later, on every loader
  • Side: both client and server must have the mod installed
  • Compatibility with other biome mods like Biomes O' Plenty and Terralith varies by version and load order; check the Regions Unexplored GitHub and Discord for tested combinations before mixing biome mods

Questions about Regions Unexplored.

6 questions

How do I install Regions Unexplored?

Download Regions Unexplored from Modrinth for your mod loader, along with its required dependency Lithostitched. Fabric builds also need Fabric API; NeoForge does not. Place every .jar file in your mods/ folder, and install the same files on the server if you play multiplayer.

Does Regions Unexplored work with Fabric?

Yes. Fabric is one of the two actively updated loaders, alongside NeoForge, with current 0.7.0 builds supporting Minecraft 26.1 through 26.1.2. Fabric installs need both Lithostitched and Fabric API; without Fabric API the mod will not load.

Is Regions Unexplored compatible with other biome mods like Biomes O' Plenty or Terralith?

Compatibility with other worldgen mods varies by version and load order. Some combinations work well; others cause conflicts. Check the Regions Unexplored GitHub issues and community Discord for an up-to-date list of tested mod combinations before mixing biome mods.

Does Regions Unexplored work on multiplayer servers?

Yes, and the server must have it installed. Regions Unexplored is a worldgen mod that modifies terrain, so both client and server need the mod and Lithostitched at the same version. Without a server-side install, clients with the mod cannot join.

Which Minecraft version does Regions Unexplored support?

Support differs by loader. Fabric and NeoForge track current releases and reached Minecraft 26.1.2 as of August 2026. Forge's last build targets 1.21.1, and Quilt's last build targets 1.20.4. There is no 26.2 release yet, so 26.1.2 is the newest version confirmed to work, on Fabric and NeoForge only.

How many biomes does Regions Unexplored add?

Regions Unexplored adds 64 new biomes across the Overworld and Nether. The mod has no official complete list published, but confirmed names include Redwood Forest, Chalk Cliffs, Joshua Desert, Saguaro Desert, Wisteria Grove, Blackwood Forest, Fungal Fen, Redstone Caves, Prismachasm, and Blackstone Basin.
