BetterHurtCam is the better hurt cam mod for players who find the camera jolt on damage distracting. It is a revamped take on NoHurtCam for Fabric, Quilt and NeoForge, and it runs on the client side only.
Loaders and versions
- Fabric and Quilt: Minecraft 1.14 to 26.3. The newest build requires ukulib; some builds for 1.17 to 1.19.2 need no dependencies.
- NeoForge: Minecraft 26.1 to 26.3. The newest build requires ukulib.
What it changes
NoHurtCam only switched the effect off. BetterHurtCam also lets you set how strong the camera bobbing is when you take damage. You adjust it from the integrated config screen or with a keybinding.
Why use it over the vanilla Damage Tilt option
Since snapshot 23w06a, Mojang ships an accessibility option called Damage Tilt, so the mod is technically unnecessary on 1.19.4 and later. It still covers a few gaps:
- Any multiplier, including values above 1 or below 0.
- The old tilt that ignores the direction of the hit.
- Disabling the blinking animation of the health bar.
Installation
- 1.Install Fabric, Quilt or NeoForge for your Minecraft release. The guides for Fabric and Forge and NeoForge cover it.
- 2.Drop the mod file and ukulib into the mods folder, as described in the mod installation guide.
Questions about BetterHurtCam.
3 questions
Does BetterHurtCam work on multiplayer servers?
It is a client-side mod, so you install it only on your own game. Servers do not need it, and it is not supported on the server side. It changes how your camera reacts to damage, nothing else in the world.
Do I still need BetterHurtCam after the Damage Tilt option was added?
Not for basic reduction. Vanilla Damage Tilt arrived in snapshot 23w06a and covers 1.19.4 and later. The mod still offers multipliers above 1 or below 0, the old non-directional tilt, and removal of the health bar blink.
Does BetterHurtCam need any other mods?
The newest builds on every supported loader require ukulib. Mod Menu is optional on some older Fabric and Quilt builds. A few early builds for 1.17 to 1.19.2 need no dependencies at all.
