What Blasting Plus works with.
| Platform | Java Edition |
|---|---|
| Loaders | Fabric, NeoForge, Quilt |
| Minecraft versions | 1.17.1, 1.18.2, 1.19.4, 1.20.6, 1.21.11, 26.1.2, 26.2 |
| Environment | Client, Server |
Blasting Plus is a Minecraft Java mod and datapack that makes the Blast Furnace accept recipes it normally ignores, so cobblestone, sand, clay and similar materials smelt at blast speed. It runs on Fabric, Quilt and NeoForge, with Forge releases now stopped. The server needs it. Clients can join without it.
Loaders and versions
- Fabric and Quilt: Minecraft 1.17.1 to 26.2. The newest build needs no dependencies, optionally Smoking Plus.
- NeoForge: Minecraft 1.21 to 26.2. The newest build needs no dependencies, optionally Smoking Plus.
- Forge: Minecraft 1.17.1 to 1.21.4, builds stopped after January 2025. The newest build needs no dependencies, optionally Smoking Plus.
What the Blast Furnace can smelt
Every recipe already exists for the normal Furnace in vanilla. Blasting Plus adds the same recipes to the Blast Furnace, so nothing new is created and the outputs do not change. The list covers eighteen conversions across several material families.
- Stone family: cobblestone to stone, stone to smooth stone, stone bricks to cracked stone bricks.
- Deepslate: cobbled deepslate to deepslate, plus cracked bricks and tiles.
- Nether: netherrack to nether brick, nether bricks to cracked nether bricks, polished blackstone bricks to their cracked form.
- Clay: clay balls to bricks, clay to terracotta, dyed terracotta to glazed terracotta.
- Sand and quartz: sand and red sand to glass, sandstone types to smooth sandstone, basalt to smooth basalt, quartz block to smooth quartz.
Installing as a mod or a datapack
The mod route suits modded worlds. Pick the file for your loader, then follow the Java mod install guide if you have not set up a loader yet.
- 1.Mod route: put the loader file in the mods folder on the server, then start it with the matching loader.
- 2.Datapack route: download the datapack build from the Modrinth page instead of a loader file.
The trade-off
This is a narrow tweak with no config options described. If you want new items, machines or recipes, look elsewhere. If you want the Blast Furnace to stop being a one-trick ore smelter, it does that and little else.
Questions about Blasting Plus.
4 questions
How do I install Blasting Plus as a datapack?
Download the datapack build from the Modrinth page and use it in place of a loader file. Once active, the Blast Furnace accepts the eighteen listed recipes, all of which the normal Furnace already smelts in vanilla. The server is the side that requires it.
Does Blasting Plus need to be on the server?
Yes. The server side is required, so the mod or datapack has to be there. Players joining can run without it on their own clients, since a client install is optional. Clients may install it too, but nothing in the listing requires that.
Does Blasting Plus need other mods?
No. The newest releases for every loader list no required dependencies. Smoking Plus is an optional companion that adds the same behaviour for the Smoker, and it is not needed for Blasting Plus to work.
Does Blasting Plus change recipe results?
No. Each recipe already exists for the normal Furnace in vanilla. The pack only lets the Blast Furnace smelt them too, so you get the same outputs at the Blast Furnace's faster speed.
