Sign up, open your profile, and type in your Minecraft username (not your Microsoft account name). You do not strictly need an account to use /paste: if you are signed in it pastes a copied build immediately, and if you are not, BuildPaste copies the command to your clipboard instead so you paste it into chat yourself with Ctrl+V. Buildpaste.net also sells a paid Premium tier through its own site. The mod's Modrinth page and wiki link to it without listing what it unlocks, so treat Premium as a separate purchase decision rather than something this page can vouch for. If staying off an outside account matters to you, in-world tools like Axiom skip the account model entirely.
Build Placer item versus the /paste command
The /paste command drops a copied build directly in front of you the moment you type it, with no preview. The Build Placer item is slower but safer: it loads the selected build as a ghost outline you can rotate and reposition before anything actually places, and it needs a fully linked buildpaste.net account to load a build at all, with no clipboard fallback. Build Placer support has also been loader-specific. According to the mod's own changelog note, the Fabric build only gained Build Placer support starting with version 26.1.2, well after Fabric itself was supported.
