Bygone Nether gives each Nether biome its own dungeon-style structure and matching mobs instead of the same handful of vanilla builds everywhere you go. It runs on Fabric or Forge for Minecraft Java 1.16.5 through 1.20.1, and it needs to be installed on both the client and the server since the new content generates through normal world generation.
New structures and mobs by biome
- Citadel: a new structure that generates in Warped Forest biomes.
- Catacomb: a new structure that generates in Soul Sand Valley biomes.
- Piglin Manor: a new structure that generates in Crimson Forest biomes.
- Warped Endermen: a new mob variant that inhabits the Warped Forest structures.
Fortress and Bastion changes
Bygone Nether also redesigns vanilla Nether Fortresses and adds Bastion Remnants to Basalt Delta biomes, a combination that never occurs in vanilla Minecraft. Both changes come from Minecraft's normal chunk generation, so they appear in newly generated Nether chunks once the mod is installed.
Installation
- 1.Install Minecraft Forge or Fabric Loader for your Minecraft version (1.16.5, 1.18.2, 1.19.2, or 1.20.1).
- 2.Download the Bygone Nether file that matches your loader and version from the Modrinth project page.
- 3.Place the jar file in the mods folder inside your Minecraft directory.
- 4.Install the same Bygone Nether version on the server if you plan to play multiplayer.
Compatibility and multiplayer
Bygone Nether needs no other mods to run and ships separate builds for Fabric and Forge across its full version range. Because the new structures and mobs generate server-side, install the same version on the server as well as every client for the content to appear in multiplayer worlds.

Questions about this entry.
How do I install Bygone Nether?
Install Minecraft Forge or Fabric Loader that matches your Minecraft version, then place the Bygone Nether jar file in your mods folder. Because the new structures generate through the server, install the same file on your server too if you play multiplayer.
Does Bygone Nether work with Fabric or Forge?
Both. Bygone Nether ships separate builds for Fabric and Forge across Minecraft 1.16.5 through 1.20.1, so pick the file that matches your loader and Minecraft version from the Modrinth project page.
Does Bygone Nether need any other mods installed?
No. The project lists no other mod dependencies, so it runs standalone once you have Forge or Fabric Loader installed for your Minecraft version.
Which Minecraft version does Bygone Nether support?
Bygone Nether supports Minecraft 1.16.5 through 1.20.1. Its most recent release targets 1.20.1, and there is no build for 1.21 or newer versions yet.
Do I need Bygone Nether installed on the server for multiplayer?
Yes. Its new structures and mobs generate through Minecraft's normal Nether chunk generation, which runs server-side, so both the server and every connecting client need the same version installed.
