Cherished Worlds is a Minecraft Java mod that adds a star toggle to the world and server select screens. Click the star next to any entry and Cherished Worlds pins it to the top of the list and blocks it from being deleted until you unpin it. It ships for Fabric, Forge, NeoForge, and Quilt, runs entirely on the client, and needs nothing installed on a server.

The star toggle next to each world icon

Every save in the list already shows its own world icon, the small screenshot Minecraft generates for that world. Cherished Worlds does not touch that icon or let you replace it. It adds an empty star button beside it instead. Tap the star and the world jumps to the top of the list, stays there ahead of anything you have played more recently, and cannot be deleted while it is pinned. Unpin it and it drops back into the normal, most-recently-played order. The same star shows up on the multiplayer server list, so a server or Realm you visit often can stay pinned above the rest.

Installing Cherished Worlds on Fabric, Forge, NeoForge, or Quilt

Pick the loader and Minecraft version you already play, since Cherished Worlds does not ship one universal jar.

  1. 1.Install Fabric Loader, Forge, NeoForge, or Quilt for the Minecraft version you want.
  2. 2.On Fabric, also install Fabric API. The Fabric build of Cherished Worlds requires it to load.
  3. 3.On Quilt, also install the Quilted Fabric API (QSL) bundle. Forge and NeoForge builds need no extra library mod.
  4. 4.Download the Cherished Worlds jar that matches your loader and Minecraft version from Modrinth.
  5. 5.Drop the jar into your mods folder and launch that profile.

Which loader gets the current Minecraft version first

Cherished Worlds updates per loader rather than all at once, and the four loaders are not on the same Minecraft version right now. Fabric and NeoForge builds are current on Minecraft 26.2. Forge is one drop behind, stopped at 26.1.2. Quilt is far behind both, its last build only reaches Minecraft 1.20.1, so it is not an option if you play a newer release.

  • Fabric 17.0.0+26.2, current on Minecraft 26.2, needs Fabric API
  • NeoForge 17.0.0+26.2, current on Minecraft 26.2, no extra dependency
  • Forge 16.0.1+26.1.2, covers Minecraft 26.1 through 26.1.2
  • Quilt 6.1.7+1.20.1, last updated for Minecraft 1.20.1, needs Quilted Fabric API (QSL)

Questions about Cherished Worlds.

5 questions

How do I install Cherished Worlds?

Match the loader and Minecraft version you already run: Fabric, Forge, NeoForge, or Quilt. Fabric also needs Fabric API installed, and Quilt needs the Quilted Fabric API (QSL) bundle. Download the jar for your loader and version from Modrinth and drop it into your mods folder before launching.

Does Cherished Worlds work with Forge and NeoForge?

Yes. Cherished Worlds ships separate Fabric, Forge, NeoForge, and Quilt builds. Fabric and NeoForge are current on Minecraft 26.2, Forge trails one drop behind at 26.1.2, and neither Forge nor NeoForge needs an extra library mod to load.

Is Cherished Worlds safe to use on multiplayer servers?

Yes. It is a client-side mod with no server component, so a server operator never needs to install it. You can pin any server or Realm in your own multiplayer list, and other players on that server do not need the mod either.

Which Minecraft version does Cherished Worlds support?

It depends on your loader. Fabric and NeoForge builds are current on Minecraft 26.2, Forge stops at 26.1.2, and Quilt has not been updated past Minecraft 1.20.1. Check the Modrinth version list for the exact build that matches your Minecraft version.

Does Cherished Worlds let you rename worlds or add custom world icons?

No. It only adds a star toggle that pins a world or server to the top of the list and blocks deletion while pinned. It does not rename entries, replace a world's icon, or add folders. For relabeling or reskinning saves, you would need a separate tool.
