Controlify adds full controller support to Minecraft Java Edition, something the base game has never shipped on its own. It covers movement, menu and inventory navigation, on-screen button prompts, a radial quick-action menu, and controller vibration. Builds are available for Fabric and NeoForge, covering Minecraft versions from 1.19.4 up through the current 26.2 release.

What Controlify adds

  • Full controller navigation for menus, inventories, and the world select screen
  • On-screen button prompts that match the connected controller (Xbox, PlayStation, or Switch Pro layouts)
  • A configurable radial menu with up to eight quick-access actions
  • Controller vibration feedback tied to in-game events
  • An on-screen keyboard so chat and text fields work without a physical keyboard
  • A data-driven system for recognizing additional controller identifiers via resource packs

Installing Controlify

Controlify runs on Fabric or NeoForge. Pick the loader that matches the rest of your modpack, since Controlify does not currently ship a Forge build. Download the matching Fabric or NeoForge jar for your Minecraft version from the source link below, then add the required dependencies before launching.

  1. 1.Install Fabric Loader or NeoForge for your target Minecraft version
  2. 2.Download Controlify for that loader and version
  3. 3.Download the required Fabric API build for Fabric installs, or the matching NeoForge dependency
  4. 4.Download the required YACL (Yet Another Config Lib) build
  5. 5.Optionally add Mod Menu to reach Controlify's settings from the in-game mods list
  6. 6.Place every jar in the instance's mods folder and launch

Compatibility and known limits

Controlify supports Fabric and NeoForge only, both currently reaching Minecraft 26.2. There is no Forge or Quilt build, so a Forge-based modpack cannot add controller support through Controlify without switching loaders. The mod is required on the client; the server side is optional and does not need Controlify installed for a controller player to join a vanilla or modded server.

How to download and install Controlify for Minecraft Java

Questions about Controlify.

5 questions

What does Controlify do?

Controlify adds full controller support to Minecraft Java, including button prompts, cursor and menu navigation, a configurable radial menu, controller vibration, and on-screen keyboard support for chat and text fields. It works with most standard game controllers, including Xbox, PlayStation, and Switch Pro pads.

How do I install Controlify?

Install a Fabric or NeoForge loader for your Minecraft version, then add Controlify plus its required dependencies, Fabric API and YACL (Yet Another Config Lib). Mod Menu is optional but useful for changing Controlify's settings from the in-game mods screen. Drop all the jar files into your instance's mods folder and launch.

Does Controlify work with Forge?

No. Controlify ships builds for Fabric and NeoForge only. There is no Forge release, so a Forge modpack cannot add controller support through Controlify without switching to NeoForge or Fabric.

Is Controlify still updated?

Yes. Controlify's Modrinth page shows releases arriving through September 2026 for both Fabric and NeoForge, tracking Minecraft's 26.x game versions as they ship. It remains one of the most actively maintained controller mods for Java Edition.

Can I use a controller on Bedrock Edition instead?

Bedrock Edition already has native controller support built into the game on console and PC, so a mod like Controlify is not needed there. Controlify exists specifically because Java Edition has no built-in controller support of its own.
