CraftPresence is a Minecraft Java mod for Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt that rewrites your Discord Rich Presence status. It runs on the player's side only and talks to Discord through its Rich Presence API and the DiscordIPC library by jagrosh. Instead of a bare "Playing Minecraft", others see what you choose to show.
Loaders and versions
- Fabric: Minecraft 1.0 to 26.3. The newest build requires UniLib; some builds for 1.0 to 1.21.1 need no dependencies; some builds for 1.14.4 to 1.19.2 require Fabric API.
- Forge: Minecraft 1.2.5 to 26.3. The newest build requires UniLib; some builds for 1.2.5 to 1.20.2 need no dependencies.
- NeoForge: Minecraft 1.20 to 26.3. The newest build requires UniLib; some builds for 1.20 to 1.21.1 need no dependencies.
- Quilt: Minecraft 1.18.2 to 26.3. The newest build requires UniLib; some builds for 1.18.2 to 1.21.1 need no dependencies.
What the status can show
The mod can display your current biome, your dimension, and the multiplayer address you are connected to. Beyond those presets, the display is yours to shape. Since v2.0.0 placeholders run on Starscript, so you can write expressions instead of picking from a fixed list.
Launcher and pack detection
CraftPresence checks the launch directory for files that identify a launcher or modpack. It recognises:
- ATLauncher and MCUpdater instances (instance.json)
- Twitch, Overwolf, Curse and GDLauncher manifests (manifest.json, minecraftinstance.json)
- Modrinth instances (profile.json)
- MultiMC instances (instance.cfg)
- Technic packs (installedPacks)
From v2.0 the pack's name and icon arrive as the pack.name and pack.icon placeholders. A pack called All the Mods 7 becomes the icon key allthemods7. MultiMC instances use their own Icon Key property instead.
Setup and commands
Put the mod file and its required library in the mods folder, as described in the Java mod install guide. Press the grave/tilde key to open the config screen. From v1.5.0 the commands live in a Commands screen inside that config, and the older /craftpresence and /cp prefixes still work on earlier releases.
- /cp compile "[expr]" tests an expression.
- /cp search finds placeholders you can use.
- /cp view placeholders, currentData, assets, biomes, dimensions and servers list the values available.
- /cp reload refreshes mod data, and /cp reboot or /cp shutdown controls the status connection.
Questions about CraftPresence.
3 questions
How do I install CraftPresence?
Install the loader that matches your Minecraft release, then place the CraftPresence file and its required library in the mods folder. Start the game with that loader's profile and press the grave/tilde key to open the config screen.
Does CraftPresence need to be installed on a multiplayer host?
No. It identifies as a player-side mod and does not run on a dedicated host. Fabric and Quilt simply ignore it there, while other loaders may crash, so leave it out of the host's mods folder. Each player installs it on their own machine.
What can CraftPresence show in Discord?
It can show your current biome, your dimension, the multiplayer address you joined, and the name and icon of the modpack you launched from a supported launcher. Placeholders written in Starscript let you build your own text beyond those presets.
