Draconic Evolution is a tech and equipment mod for Minecraft Java, current on NeoForge, with older Forge releases that have stopped. It adds extremely expensive high-tier tools, armor and energy storage, built around the ore Draconium. It runs on both client and server.
Loaders and versions
- NeoForge: Minecraft 1.20.1 to 1.21.1. The newest build requires Brandon's Core and CodeChicken Lib 1.8.+.
- Forge: Minecraft 1.12.2 to 1.20.1, builds stopped after July 2025. The newest build requires Brandon's Core and CodeChicken Lib 1.8.+; builds for 1.12.2 require Brandon's Core, CodeChicken Lib 1.8.+ and Redstone Flux.
What it adds
The premise is Draconium. Early on it feeds machines and items. At the top, Awakened Draconium makes very powerful armor and tools. Around that core sit teleportation, mob farming (spawning and killing), player detection, time and weather control, and high-tier RF energy storage.
Modular tools and armor
Since the 1.16 rewrite, tools and armor are shells until you fit upgrade modules. The system is loosely based on Factorio's modular armor.
- Most modular items need at least one energy storage module to work.
- A module only fits an item that accepts its type and is of the same tier as the module or higher. Draconic and Chaotic items allow more and higher-tier modules.
- Flight modules include elytra flight with a boost (forward plus sprint). Creative flight needs a Draconic or Chaotic flight module.
- Undying modules replace the old invincibility. They act as rechargeable totems of undying, with an energy cost and a minimum recharge time.
- The Draconic shield needs a shield control module plus capacity and recovery modules. An auto feed module eats food from your inventory as needed.
Installing it
Install NeoForge first (see how to install Forge and NeoForge). Then put the mod and the required libraries listed above into the mods folder, and launch the NeoForge profile. Put the same files on a dedicated host if you play multiplayer. The newest NeoForge release is tagged beta, so expect rough edges.

Questions about Draconic Evolution.
3 questions
Where do I start with Draconic Evolution?
Start with Draconium, the ore the whole mod is built on. It feeds machines and items early on, while Awakened Draconium sits at the top and makes extremely powerful armor and tools. Since the 1.16 rewrite, tools and armor do little without upgrade modules, and most modular items need at least one energy storage module to function.
Does Draconic Evolution work on multiplayer servers?
Yes. The files are tagged for both client and server, so install the mod and its required libraries on both sides. Players and the host should run matching releases on NeoForge.
Does Draconic Evolution work on Fabric?
No. The listed releases target NeoForge and Forge only. Forge releases have stopped, so NeoForge is the loader to use for current play.
