e4mc is a Minecraft Java mod that turns the vanilla Open to LAN screen into a public, shareable link. Start a LAN world and e4mc hands back a domain anyone can connect to from the normal multiplayer menu, no port forwarding, no dedicated server, and nothing for your friends to install. It ships for Fabric, Quilt, NeoForge, and Forge, with Fabric, Quilt, and NeoForge current through Minecraft 26.2 and Forge trailing behind.
How e4mc shares your LAN server
e4mc is a reverse tunneling proxy. When you open your world to LAN as normal, the mod connects that local port to e4mc's own relay servers and publishes a domain in its place. Anyone who joins over that domain is really routed through the relay to your game, so the traffic between your world and your friends passes through e4mc's infrastructure rather than a direct connection. The mod, and the relay it depends on, are both open source.
Installing e4mc
- 1.Install a mod loader: Fabric Loader, Quilt, NeoForge, or Forge, matching the Minecraft version you play.
- 2.On Fabric or Quilt, install Fabric API first. It is a required dependency for the Fabric build; Forge and NeoForge builds do not need it.
- 3.Drop the matching e4mc jar into your mods folder and launch the game.
- 4.Load a world, open it to LAN as usual, and copy the domain e4mc shows next to the local address.
- 5.Send that domain to friends. They add it as a server in vanilla Minecraft and connect, no mod required on their side.
Loader and version support
- Fabric and Quilt: current through Minecraft 26.2.
- NeoForge: current through Minecraft 26.2.
- Forge: 1.18 through 1.20.6 at its peak; the newest Forge release covers only up to 1.20.4.
- Fabric API is required on Fabric and Quilt builds; the optional McQoy add-on works across all four loaders.

Questions about e4mc.
5 questions
How does the e4mc share link work?
e4mc watches the local port your Open to LAN screen creates and opens a reverse tunnel to it through e4mc's own relay servers, then hands you back a public domain. Friends add that domain as a server in vanilla Minecraft and connect over the internet instead of your local network. The relay code is open source.
What do I do with the domain e4mc gives me?
Copy it and send it to whoever you want to join. It shows up next to the local IP and port as soon as you open your world to LAN. Friends paste it into the Add Server screen like any other multiplayer address, no extra setup on their end.
Do my friends need to install e4mc too?
No. Only the host installs the mod. The generated domain works with an unmodified vanilla client on the joining side, because e4mc just gives the host's LAN world a normal-looking public server address.
Does e4mc work with Forge?
Yes, but Forge lags behind the other loaders. Fabric, Quilt, and NeoForge builds are current through Minecraft 26.2, while the highest version any Forge build has reached is 1.20.6, and the newest Forge release only covers up to 1.20.4.
Which Minecraft version does e4mc support?
It depends on the loader. Fabric, Quilt, and NeoForge builds reach 26.2. Forge builds span 1.18 through 1.20.6, though the current Forge release is narrower and stops at 1.20.4.
