GD656Killicon brings FPS-style killfeed notifications to Minecraft Java, with kill icons and subtitles themed after popular shooter games and smooth animations. It runs on Forge, NeoForge and Fabric and has to be installed on both the client and the server side. Without it on the server, every feature stays off.
Loaders and versions
- Forge: Minecraft 1.18.2 to 1.21.4. The newest build needs no dependencies.
- NeoForge: Minecraft 1.21.1. The newest build needs no dependencies, optionally [UNOFFICIAL] TaCZ 1.21.1 NeoForge Port.
- Fabric: Minecraft 1.20.1. The newest build needs no dependencies; some builds for 1.20.1 require YetAnotherConfigLib (YACL) and Mod Menu.
Presets and customisation
The mod is built on presets. The bundled set covers Classic, CF Killstreak, CS2 Card Style, Battlefield 1, Battlefield 4, Battlefield 5, PUBG, Delta Force: Black Hawk Down and Valorant. Each preset carries its own textures, sounds and configs, and presets are made of 9 customisable elements.
- Drag and drop .ogg or .wav files into the sound menu to replace sounds.
- Drag and drop .png files to set icon textures. A .gif is converted into a PNG spritesheet with animation settings.
- Export your own preset as a .gdpack file to share it.
- The client tracks lifetime stats such as longest kill distance, total kills and rival players.
The score system
On the server side the core is a score system. It records score, deaths, assists and kills, and an in-game scoreboard shows everyone's score and KDA. Admins can edit scores freely and set the score expression for each event. Non-admins earn points only through score events, of which 1.1.0.013 has 51, including Suppression, Backstab, Hero's Return and Marked Team Assist.
Installation and compatibility
Follow the guide for your loader, such as installing Forge and NeoForge, then put the file in the mods folder on both sides. To switch icon modes, open the in-game config menu, where a built-in tutorial guides you. If it does not appear, run `/gd656killicon client debug iamanew` and reopen the menu.
Optional add-ons extend the score events: Ping Wheel adds marked kills and team assists from 1.1.0, and Immersive Aircraft adds vehicle damage, destroy and repair events from 1.0.9. CustomNPCs-Unofficial fixes name display when you kill custom NPCs from 1.1.1. Other listed add-ons are Excellent Frontline, Never Ending: Vehicles, LR Tactical Workshop and Enemy Detection.
Questions about GD656Killicon.
3 questions
Does GD656Killicon work if only I install it?
No. All features are disabled when the mod is installed only on the client and missing from the server. It needs to be in the mods folder on both sides, so on a multiplayer world the server owner has to add it too.
How do I change kill icon styles in GD656Killicon?
Open the in-game config menu and pick a preset or edit its elements. A built-in tutorial walks you through it. If the tutorial does not show, run /gd656killicon client debug iamanew and open the menu again. The tutorial is complete from 1.1.1.001.
Can I use my own icons and sounds with GD656Killicon?
Yes. Drag .png images onto an element to set its icon texture, or a .gif to have it converted into an animated spritesheet. Drag .ogg or .wav files into the sound menu. Finished presets export as .gdpack files you can share.
