JurassiCraft is a Forge mod for Minecraft Java that turns fossils and amber into living dinosaurs. Extract DNA, incubate it into an egg, and raise everything from a Gallimimus to a Tyrannosaurus, then build the machines, decorations, and vehicles to run a working dinosaur park. It requires Forge and runs on both the client and any server hosting the world, currently at 1.11.2 or 1.12.2.
What JurassiCraft adds
The mod centers on ten dinosaurs reached through a full breeding chain: dig up fossils, extract DNA, and grow it into a hatchling in dedicated lab machinery. Everything else in the mod supports running a park around that loop.
- Ten dinosaurs, including Tyrannosaurus, Triceratops, Velociraptor, and Brachiosaurus
- Prehistoric plants for landscaping enclosures
- DNA extraction and incubation machinery
- Park decorations, fencing, and signage
- Vehicles for getting around a park
- Skeletons and museum pieces built from fossils
The team cut several dinosaurs from the 2.0 pre-release lineup to focus on a smaller, finished roster rather than a longer unfinished one, and the last public build shipped for 1.12.2 in October 2021. JurassiCraft's own FAQ says a new update lands only once it is ready, with no date attached, so treat this as a stable release rather than one getting regular content drops.
Installing JurassiCraft on Forge
- 1.Install Minecraft Forge for 1.11.2 or 1.12.2
- 2.Download and install LLibrary 1.7.9 or newer for the same Minecraft version
- 3.Place the JurassiCraft jar in the mods folder alongside LLibrary
- 4.Launch the Forge profile and load into a world
New to modding Minecraft Java? Our Forge installation guide covers setting up the loader itself, and our mod installation guide walks through adding jars like this one and LLibrary to the mods folder.
Supported Minecraft versions
JurassiCraft's own installation notes point at 1.11.2 or 1.12.2 as the versions to run today. Earlier 2.x builds reach back to 1.9.4, but the team's FAQ is explicit that the original 1.7.10 release, which predates the 2.0 rewrite, is not supported and will not return.
- 1.12.2, the current recommended version
- 1.11.2, also recommended in the mod's install notes
- 1.11 and 1.10.2, earlier 2.x builds
- 1.9.4, the oldest supported 2.x build
Not the Bedrock Marketplace JurassiCraft
A search for JurassiCraft also turns up a separate, unrelated Minecraft Marketplace listing with the same name, built by Spectral Studios for Bedrock Edition. That is a different, separately sold product from a different creator. This page covers the free, community-made Forge mod by Cazsius and the JurassiCraft team, distributed only through CurseForge and its Patreon early-access builds. Beyond sharing a title, the two have no connection.
This mod has passed eight million downloads on CurseForge since its 2015 release. CurseForge lists it under an all-rights-reserved license with no separate mirror terms published, so we link to the official project page rather than hosting the jar ourselves.

Questions about JurassiCraft.
5 questions
How do I install JurassiCraft?
Install Minecraft Forge for 1.11.2 or 1.12.2, then add LLibrary 1.7.9 or newer to the same mods folder. JurassiCraft depends on LLibrary and will not load without it. Drop the JurassiCraft jar in alongside both files, then launch the Forge profile.
Does JurassiCraft work on Bedrock Edition?
No. This JurassiCraft is a Java Forge mod. A separate, unrelated Minecraft Marketplace listing with the same name exists for Bedrock Edition, made by Spectral Studios and sold through the in-game store. The two share only a title.
Which Minecraft version does JurassiCraft support?
The mod's own installation notes call out 1.11.2 and 1.12.2 as the versions to run. Earlier 2.x builds go back to 1.9.4, but the original 1.7.10 release predates the 2.0 rewrite and is explicitly not supported by the team.
Is JurassiCraft safe to download?
JurassiCraft is distributed through CurseForge, one of the largest Minecraft mod platforms, and lists an all-rights-reserved license with no separate mirror terms. We link to the official CurseForge page rather than hosting the file ourselves.
Does JurassiCraft need any other mods?
Yes. LLibrary 1.7.9 or newer is a required dependency, and Minecraft Forge is required as the mod loader. JurassiCraft will fail to load if either one is missing.
