LAN World Plug-n-Play (mcwifipnp) replaces the vanilla Open to LAN screen with a fuller settings panel. It supports Fabric, Forge and NeoForge, and the player hosting the world uses it. A dedicated server can run it too, but only for one narrow job. Quilt support has stopped.

Loaders and versions

  • Fabric: Minecraft 1.15.2 to 26.3. The newest build requires Fabric API; some builds for 1.19.4 to 1.21.4 need no dependencies.
  • Forge: Minecraft 1.15.2 to 26.3. The newest build needs no dependencies.
  • NeoForge: Minecraft 1.20 to 26.3. The newest build needs no dependencies.
  • Quilt: Minecraft 1.19 to 1.21.4, builds stopped after July 2025. The newest build requires Quilted Fabric API (QFAPI) / Quilt Standard Libraries (QSL); some builds for 1.19 to 1.21.4 need no dependencies.

What the LAN screen gains

  • Change the port and map it to the public network with UPnP, if your router supports it. Toggle it with the /upnp command.
  • Enable or disable PVP and set a custom MOTD.
  • Decide whether joining players get operator rights or cheats, with /op, /deop and /whitelist.
  • Ban players or IP addresses with /ban and /ban-ip, and lift bans with /pardon.
  • Show local and public IP addresses and copy one to the clipboard. The /ip command gives more detail.

Settings are saved and reloaded the next time you open that world. Most can change while it runs, though some apply only to players who join afterwards.

Online mode and the UUID fixer

The Online Mode button has three states. Enable checks logins against Mojang's database, so only genuine Microsoft accounts join. Disable skips verification and admits offline players. Disable + UUID Fixer also admits them, but uses the official UUID when the name exists on Mojang's servers, which keeps backpacks and inventories intact when a world moves between modes. The /uuidfixer command manages the mapping.

Installation

  1. 1.Install the loader you play on for your Minecraft release. The guides cover Fabric and Forge or NeoForge.
  2. 2.Put the mod file for that loader in the mods folder, along with any dependency listed above, such as Fabric API.
  3. 3.Launch with the loader's profile, open a single-player world, and choose Open to LAN.

The code builds on TheGlitch76's mcpnp. The UPnP module comes from WaifUPnP, and Online Mode with the UUID fix comes from Rikka0w0's LanServerProperties.

Questions about LAN World Plug-n-Play.

4 questions

What does LAN World Plug-n-Play change?

It replaces the vanilla Open to LAN screen with a panel for port number, UPnP mapping, PVP, MOTD, operator and cheat permissions, and online mode. It also adds commands for whitelists, bans, IP lookup and UUID mapping, and it saves your settings for the next time you open the world.

Does LAN World Plug-n-Play work on a dedicated server?

Only partly. On a dedicated server the mod runs just the UUID fixer, and only when a uuid_fixer.json file sits in the server's working directory. The /uuidfixer command is available there too. Everything else is for the player hosting a LAN world.

What is the UUID fixer for?

It matches an offline player's name to the official Mojang UUID when that name exists there. Players keep the same identity as in online mode, so backpacks and inventories are not lost when you switch a world from online to offline mode. Exceptions are added with /uuidfixer force.

How do I let friends join my LAN world over the internet?

The mod can map your chosen port to the public network with UPnP, if your router supports it. It also shows your local and public IP addresses and can copy one to the clipboard, so you can send it to friends.
