What Lost Cities Modern Tweaks works with.
| Platform | Java Edition |
|---|---|
| Loaders | Fabric, NeoForge, Forge |
| Minecraft versions | 1.20.1, 1.21.11, 26.1.2, 26.2 |
| Environment | Client, Server |
Lost Cities Modern Tweaks is a worldgen mod that reworks the default city generation of The Lost Cities with modern blocks, extra buildings and finer interior detail, while keeping the original look. It ships for Fabric, NeoForge and Forge, and the same content is also offered as a plain datapack. The server needs it, and players joining may skip it.
Loaders and versions
- Fabric: Minecraft 26.2. The newest build requires The Lost Cities.
- NeoForge: Minecraft 1.21.1 to 26.2. The newest build requires The Lost Cities.
- Forge: Minecraft 1.20.1. The newest build requires The Lost Cities.
What the tweaks change
- Torches become lanterns, and streets and highways get new designs with lamp posts.
- More railway detail, more roof variations, more building palettes and new building designs.
- More park designs, redesigned fountains, and city styles specific to biomes.
- A spacious factory multibuilding, handy as a starting base in tech packs.
- Touched-up interiors for shopping centers and town centers, each with its own loot table.
Most changes are aesthetic and leave the balance of the original mod alone. Everything uses vanilla blocks, so no extra mods are needed beyond The Lost Cities. Hundreds of building parts are modified.
Installing the mod or the datapack
- 1.Install The Lost Cities for the same loader and Minecraft release. See how to install mods on Java Edition if you are new to it.
- 2.Mod route: put the Modern Tweaks .jar in the mods folder next to The Lost Cities. The loader checks the dependency, and the tweaks apply to every world.
- 3.Datapack route: use the datapack file instead if you want the tweaks in one specific world. You must check yourself that it matches your Lost Cities release.
- 4.Create a new Lost Cities profile. The overrides enable the tweaks by default, but existing profiles will not pick them up.
Compatibility and trade-offs
Lost Cities cannot merge styles from several datapacks, so one pack usually overrides another. Recent releases keep most content under the lcmt namespace and override only three base files: the standard and standard_everywhere world styles, and the border city style. Older releases touch far more files, so mixing them with other Lost Cities datapacks is unlikely to work. Mods that work with The Lost Cities should work here, and the added chests and barrels support Lootr. Heavily modded worldgen may still clash, since not every such setup has been tested.
Questions about Lost Cities Modern Tweaks.
4 questions
Do I need The Lost Cities to use Lost Cities Modern Tweaks?
Yes. It only changes how The Lost Cities generates cities, so that mod must be installed first. With the loader mod, the dependency check runs automatically. With the datapack, you have to confirm yourself that it matches the Lost Cities release you installed.
What is the difference between the mod and the datapack?
They share the same content. The mod is easier because it installs like any other mod and enables the tweaks for all worlds. The datapack suits players who want the changes in only one world, and it needs a manual compatibility check against The Lost Cities.
Why don't I see the new cities in my existing world?
The tweaks are enabled through overrides of the standard world styles, so they apply to newly created Lost Cities profiles. Create a new profile to get them.
Can I use Lost Cities Modern Tweaks with other Lost Cities datapacks?
Often, with caution. Lost Cities cannot merge styles from several datapacks, so one pack usually overrides another. Newer releases keep most content under their own lcmt namespace and override only three base files, which improves the odds. Older releases are highly unlikely to combine well.
