Paradise Lost is a Skylands dimension mod for Fabric and NeoForge, inspired by the Aether mod. It adds a sky realm with new biomes, mobs, resources and structures. It must be installed on both the client and the server.
Loaders and versions
- Fabric: Minecraft 1.16.4 to 1.21.1. The newest build requires Fabric API; some builds for 1.19.2 to 1.21.1 require Cloth Config API and Fabric API; some builds for 1.16.4 to 1.21.1 need no dependencies.
- NeoForge: Minecraft 1.21.1. The newest build needs no dependencies; some builds for 1.21.1 require Cloth Config API, Forgified Fabric API, Sherds API and Sinytra Connector.
Reaching Paradise
Construct a frame from Bloomed Calcite, flood it with water and step through. The dimension is meant to open up after you have explored both the Overworld and the Nether, and it follows vanilla style and progression rather than replacing them.
What you find there
- New biomes to forage for plants and resources.
- New mobs native to the sky realm.
- Functional and decorative blocks, enough to build a cozy home among the clouds.
- Large structures with unique equipment and valuables as rewards.
The soundtrack is Aether Reborn - Volume 1. Translations are crowd sourced through Crowdin.
Installation
- 1.Install Fabric or NeoForge for the release you want to play. The guides on installing Fabric cover the loader step.
- 2.Put the mod file in the mods folder, along with the dependencies your release needs, such as Fabric API on recent Fabric releases. The list above shows which ones apply.
- 3.Place the same files on the server, since both sides require the mod.
- 4.Launch with the loader's profile. If you are new to mods, start with how to install Java mods.

Questions about Paradise Lost.
4 questions
How do I get to the Paradise Lost dimension?
Build a frame out of Bloomed Calcite, fill it with water, then step through it. The mod is designed to become accessible after you have explored both the Overworld and the Nether, so it fits into normal vanilla progression.
Does Paradise Lost need to be installed on the server?
Yes. Paradise Lost is required on both the client and the server, so the mod file goes in the mods folder on each. Which dependencies you also need depends on the loader and the release, and the loader list on this page shows what each one requires.
Does Paradise Lost work on Forge?
Releases exist only for Fabric and NeoForge. No Forge release is listed, so Forge players cannot use the mod directly. Pick the loader that matches your Minecraft release and install the matching file.
Is Paradise Lost the same as the Aether mod?
No. Paradise Lost is a separate Skylands dimension mod that takes inspiration from the Aether. It has its own Bloomed Calcite portal, biomes, mobs, resources and structures, and is made by the Immortal Devs team.
