Revault

Revault restocks vaults and ominous vaults for each player after a configurable cooldown. It comes as a plain datapack or as a mod for four loaders.

Revault, listed on Modrinth as Re vault, lets a player open the same vault or ominous vault again once a cooldown has passed. Normally a vault opens once per player and never again. The Re vault datapack ships as a plain datapack and as mod files for Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt. It is required on the world host and optional on players' machines.

Loaders and versions

  • Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt: Minecraft 1.21 to 26.3. The newest build needs no dependencies.

How the cooldown works

  • Each player starts their own timer when they open a vault. When it ends, only that player can open the vault again.
  • Normal vaults restock after 1 hour and ominous vaults after 5 hours by default. A trial spawner, for comparison, takes 30 minutes.
  • Timers follow world time, so vaults restock even in unloaded chunks. They do not advance while a world or host is paused.
  • Smoke particles rise from a vault, like a trial spawner on cooldown, and only players who are on cooldown can see them.
  • Singleplayer and multiplayer both work, with any number of players.

Installation

There are two routes. For the datapack, add it when you create the world and it works automatically. For the mod, pick the file for your loader, put it in the mods folder and launch with that loader's profile. The guide on installing mods on Java Edition covers the folder layout. Neither route needs another mod or library.

Configuration and removal

Run /function revault:gamerules in a world, then click the entries in chat to change the reset times. A value of -1 means that vault type never resets. Modpack makers can overwrite the function revault:default_gamerules to set defaults for every world, since a datapack has no config file.

Removing Revault leaves the vault markers in place. If you reinstall it, every vault whose timer would already have ended unlocks at once.

Questions about Revault.

4 questions

How do I reopen a vault more than once?

Install Revault and open the vault as usual. Your own timer starts at that moment, and once it ends you can open the same vault again. Other players keep separate timers, so one person's cooldown never blocks someone else. Normal vaults restock after 1 hour by default and ominous vaults after 5 hours.

Does Revault work in multiplayer?

Yes. It works in singleplayer and multiplayer with any number of players, and every player has an independent timer. It is required on the world host, while players joining are not required to have it. Smoke particles on a vault show only to players whose timer is running.

Is it called Revault or Re vault?

The project is named Revault. Modrinth lists it as Re vault so it does not fall to the bottom of search results for the word vault.

Can I change how long vaults take to restock?

Yes. Run /function revault:gamerules in your world and click the options shown in chat to set reset times for normal and ominous vaults. Setting a time to -1 stops that vault type from ever resetting. Modpack makers can instead overwrite the revault:default_gamerules function.
