Splitscreen Support is a Minecraft split screen mod for Fabric and NeoForge by pcal43. It places each window in a half or quarter of the screen, so several instances can share one monitor or TV for local multiplayer. It runs on the player's own machine only and is not supported on servers.
Loaders and versions
- Fabric: Minecraft 1.20.1 to 26.2. The newest build requires Fabric API.
- NeoForge: Minecraft 1.20.6 to 26.2. The newest build needs no dependencies.
What the mod does
Pressing the Toggle Fullscreen key (F11) no longer just goes fullscreen. It cycles through half-size and quarter-size window positions, then saves your pick and restores it on the next launch. Start two or more instances and each one lands where you left it.
This is window management, not a rendering change. Every player runs a separate instance, so the mod pairs with a launcher such as PrismLauncher and a gamepad mod such as MidnightControls. The only other addition is your username in the upper-left corner of the main menu, so you can tell instances apart.
Setting up local split screen
- 1.Create one PrismLauncher instance per player, each with its own legitimate Minecraft profile.
- 2.Install Splitscreen Support and MidnightControls in every instance.
- 3.Launch the instances and press F11 in each to choose a window position.
- 4.In MidnightControls, enable Unfocused Input and Virtual Mouse.
- 5.Press F3+P to disable Pause on Lost Focus.
- 6.Open one world to LAN and connect the others to it, for example with localhost:25565.
Window gap setting
The mod leaves a small gap between windows by default. Set the gap property in config/splitscreen.properties to change its width, or to 0 for none. The file appears only after you quit Minecraft once with the mod running.

Questions about Splitscreen Support.
4 questions
How do I play split screen in Minecraft Java Edition?
Run one instance per player in a launcher such as PrismLauncher, each with Splitscreen Support and a gamepad mod like MidnightControls installed. Press F11 to place each window, open one world to LAN, and connect the other instances to it.
Does Splitscreen Support work on Bedrock?
No. It is a Java Edition mod for Fabric and NeoForge. Bedrock cannot load mods, so this window-positioning approach does not apply there.
Do I need Fabric API for Splitscreen Support?
On Fabric, yes, the newest release requires Fabric API. On NeoForge the newest release needs no dependencies. Install the mod on the player's own machine, since servers are unsupported.
Where do I change the gap between windows?
Edit the gap value in config/splitscreen.properties. Setting it to 0 removes the gap. The file is created only after you quit Minecraft for the first time with the mod installed.
