XaeroShare is a Fabric mod for Minecraft Java that lets you send waypoints from Xaero's Minimap to selected players instead of everyone online. The mod runs on the client only. A separate XaeroShare plugin for Paper and its forks covers the other side, and only one of the two needs to be installed.
Loaders and versions
- Fabric: Minecraft 1.21.1 to 26.3. The newest build requires Xaero's Minimap.
How the mod works
The mod piggybacks on the way Xaero's Minimap already shares waypoints through chat, so it works on a fully vanilla server. It sends the waypoint with the `/msg` command and adds `:xaeroshare` to the end, which lets server owners detect it if they want to. The default hotkey is Right Alt, and you can rebind it in settings.
- Share a waypoint with one player or several at once.
- An automatic delay between sends keeps you from spamming commands.
- `/waypointshare "Waypoint Name" "minecraft:overworld" Player1 Player2` shares an existing waypoint.
- `/locationshare "Location Name" "minecraft:overworld" 1 2 3 Player1 Player2` shares raw coordinates.
The Paper and Purpur plugin
Install the plugin on a Paper-based server and nobody needs the mod. It intercepts the regular Xaero's Minimap share message and opens a screen, built with Paper's Dialog API, listing the players who can receive it. Players can submit a selection or ignore the screen and send the waypoint the vanilla way. The plugin passes the mod's share output through unchanged, since the format is undocumented, and it ignores messages that carry the `:xaeroshare` tag.
Installing and trade-offs
Set up Fabric first (the Fabric guide covers it), then drop XaeroShare and Xaero's Minimap into the mods folder. The mod installation guide has the full steps. The feature set is narrow by design: it shares waypoints and does nothing else.

Questions about XaeroShare.
4 questions
Does XaeroShare work on vanilla servers?
Yes, the Fabric mod works on any server, including a fully vanilla one, because it uses the same chat-based waypoint sharing that Xaero's Minimap already uses. It sends waypoints through the /msg command and tags them with :xaeroshare, so admins can spot them if they choose.
Do I need both the mod and the plugin?
No. Only one side needs it. Install the mod on your own client, or have the server owner install the plugin on a Paper-based server so every player gets the player-selection screen without installing anything.
What does XaeroShare need to run?
The Fabric mod requires Xaero's Minimap in its newest release. The Paper and Purpur plugin lists no required dependencies.
Why does chat reporting break with XaeroShare?
The plugin presents messages to the server and clients as if they were never intercepted, which can confuse chat reporting and message signing. Turning off enforce-secure-profile in server.properties is the fix suggested for those problems.
