YUNG's API is a shared code library, not a mod with content of its own. It provides the utility functions and data abstractions that every YUNG's Better X structure mod, from Better Dungeons to Better Ocean Monuments, is built on. If a mod's dependency list points you here, install this alongside it; on its own, YUNG's API changes nothing in your world. It ships for Fabric, Forge, and NeoForge, and Fabric and NeoForge builds already run on Minecraft's 26.1.2 drop while Forge is still capped at 1.21.1.
What YUNG's API actually does
YUNGNICKYOUNG maintains YUNG's API as the common backend for the YUNG's Better X family of world generation mods. It centralizes the structure-placement logic, config handling, and shared data types those mods reuse instead of each shipping its own copy. There is no gameplay to experience, no settings screen worth opening, and no reason to install it unless another mod requires it.
YUNG's mods that require this library
Every mod below fails to load without YUNG's API in the mods folder alongside it, on the matching loader and version.
- YUNG's Better Dungeons, which replaces vanilla dungeons with multi-floor Catacombs and Fortresses of the Undead.
- YUNG's Better Mineshafts, an overhauled mineshaft layout with biome-specific variants.
- YUNG's Better Strongholds, a larger, more varied stronghold layout.
- YUNG's Better Ocean Monuments, a reworked monument interior and exterior.
- YUNG's Better Nether Fortresses, an expanded fortress layout with more room variety.
- YUNG's Better End Island, a redesigned outer end island generation pass.
- YUNG's Better Desert Temples, a bigger temple with new traps and rooms.
- YUNG's Better Jungle Temples, an expanded temple layout with added puzzles.
- YUNG's Better Witch Huts, a larger swamp hut structure with more loot variety.
- YUNG's Bridges, which adds new bridge structures spanning ravines and canyons.
Installing YUNG's API
- 1.Install Fabric, Forge, or NeoForge for your target Minecraft version.
- 2.Fabric only: also download Fabric API and place it in your mods folder. Forge and NeoForge need no extra loader dependency.
- 3.Download YUNG's API from Modrinth for the same loader and Minecraft version as the mod that needs it.
- 4.Download the YUNG's Better X mod (and Cloth Config API, which those mods require separately) for the matching loader and version.
- 5.Place all .jar files in the same mods folder, client and server alike, then launch.
Loader and version support
YUNG's API supports Minecraft 1.18.2 through 1.21.4 on the old versioning scheme, plus 26.1.1 and 26.1.2 under Minecraft's current year.drop numbering. The three loaders are not on equal footing: as of mid-September 2026, the newest Fabric and NeoForge builds both target 26.1.2, while the newest Forge build still tops out at 1.21.1. Match the API build's loader and version exactly to the YUNG's Better X mod installed next to it, not just the loader.

Questions about YUNG's API.
5 questions
What does YUNG's API do in Minecraft?
Nothing by itself. It is a shared code library that provides utility functions and data handling for YUNGNICKYOUNG's YUNG's Better X mods, such as Better Dungeons and Better Mineshafts. It adds no blocks, structures, or settings of its own; it exists so those mods do not each ship duplicate code.
Do I need YUNG's API to use YUNG's Better X mods?
Yes. Every YUNG's Better X mod, including Better Dungeons, Better Mineshafts, Better Strongholds, and the rest of the family, lists YUNG's API as a required dependency and will not load without it in the mods folder on the same loader and version.
Does YUNG's API work with Fabric, Forge, and NeoForge?
Yes, on all three, but not equally. Fabric and NeoForge builds already support Minecraft 26.1.2. Forge's newest build still targets 1.21.1. Download the build that matches both your loader and your Minecraft version exactly.
Do I also need Fabric API to run YUNG's API?
Only on Fabric. YUNG's API's Fabric builds require Fabric API in the same mods folder. The Forge and NeoForge builds have no additional loader-level dependency, though the YUNG's Better X mod you install alongside it may require Cloth Config API separately.
Which Minecraft versions does YUNG's API support?
Builds exist for 1.18.2 through 1.21.4 under the old version scheme, and for 26.1.1 and 26.1.2 under Minecraft's current year.drop numbering. Forge is the exception: its latest build has not moved past 1.21.1 while Fabric and NeoForge are already on 26.1.2.
