YUNG's Extras is a world generation mod for Fabric and NeoForge, with older Forge releases that have since stopped. It adds small structures and vanilla+ features, each too minor for a mod of its own. It is marked server required and client unsupported.
Loaders and versions
- Fabric: Minecraft 1.19.2 to 26.1.2. The newest build requires Cloth Config API, Fabric API and YUNG's API, optionally Mod Menu; some builds for 1.19.4 need no dependencies.
- NeoForge: Minecraft 1.20.4 to 26.1.2. The newest build requires YUNG's API.
- Forge: Minecraft 1.19.2 to 1.21.1, builds stopped after October 2024. The newest build requires YUNG's API; some builds for 1.19.4 need no dependencies.
What it adds
The first content update, Desert Decorations, brought new and improved desert wells, including rare wishing wells that may hide treasure at the bottom. It also added desert obelisks and flame outposts, among other pieces. The most recent addition is the Swamp Structures update for 1.18 and later.
- Lots of ruins in swamp terrain
- Ancient pillars
- A few very rare easter egg structures
- Desert wells, obelisks and flame outposts
The creator describes it as lightweight, with minimal performance impact, and promises further content updates over time.
Installation
Pick the release that matches your loader and game release, then drop it into the mods folder together with its required libraries. Nearly every release needs YUNG's API. New to modding? The guide on installing Java mods covers the folder layout step by step.
Compatibility and trade-offs
YUNG's Extras is intended to work with every worldgen mod, and the creator names YUNG's Better Mineshafts, YUNG's Better Strongholds, YUNG's Better Ocean Monuments, YUNG's Better Desert Temples, YUNG's Witch Huts and YUNG's Bridges.
The trade-off is subtlety. These are small touches, so expect occasional finds rather than a new dimension of content. Forge users are stuck on older releases because builds stopped after October 2024.
Questions about YUNG's Extras.
3 questions
Does YUNG's Extras need to be installed on the client?
No. The mod is marked as required on the server side and unsupported on the client side. Its README describes it as a mod that adds extra structures and other server-side vanilla+ content throughout the game. Most builds also need YUNG's API, so install that library alongside it.
Is YUNG's Extras compatible with other worldgen mods?
It is intended to be fully compatible with every worldgen mod. The creator specifically lists YUNG's Better Desert Temples, Ocean Monuments, Mineshafts, Strongholds, Witch Huts and Bridges. Because it only adds small structures and features, it fits alongside larger structure overhauls.
Does YUNG's Extras still support Forge?
Forge releases exist for 1.19.2 to 1.21.1, but they stopped after October 2024 while Fabric and NeoForge kept receiving updates. For current Minecraft releases, use the Fabric or NeoForge files instead.
