AxInventoryRestore is an inventory backup plugin for Java Edition servers. It logs player inventories automatically and lets staff restore them with one click or pull the items out as a shulker box. It runs on Bukkit, Spigot, Paper, Purpur and Folia, and only the server needs it.

Server software and versions

  • Bukkit, Folia, Paper, Purpur and Spigot: Minecraft 1.13 to 26.3. The newest build needs no dependencies.

What it backs up and when

A backup is made when a player dies, joins, quits or changes world. One is also taken every few minutes (the interval is customizable) and staff can trigger one by hand. The plugin was inspired by Inventory Rollback Plus, though no code was taken from it.

  • Storage in SQLite, H2, MySQL or PostgreSQL, with database work handled async where possible.
  • Multi-server support when using MySQL or PostgreSQL.
  • Automatic cleanup that deletes data after a set number of days.
  • Every message can be translated.
  • A developer API for creating your own save categories.

Installation

Drop the .jar into the plugins folder and restart. Players join with a normal client and install nothing. The plugin install guide covers the steps if you are new to it.

Commands and permissions

The plugin has one command, /axir, with a few subcommands.

  • /axir opens the backup viewer.
  • /axir save, or /axir save * for all players, creates a manual backup.
  • /axir reload reloads the plugin.
  • /axir cleanup deletes old data based on config.yml.
  • axir.admin or axir.* grants everything.
  • axir.view opens backups, axir.modify lets staff take items from them.
  • axir.restore enables quick restore, axir.export enables shulker export.
  • axir.teleport teleports to the backup location.
  • axir.manualbackup, axir.reload and axir.cleanup gate the matching subcommands.

Questions about AxInventoryRestore.

4 questions

How do I restore a player's inventory with AxInventoryRestore?

Staff use /axir to check backups. With the axir.view permission they can open backups, axir.restore allows the quick one-click restore, and axir.export allows exporting the items as a shulker box instead. Taking individual items out of a backup needs axir.modify. Each of these is a separate permission node.

Does AxInventoryRestore work on Folia?

Yes. Folia is a listed target, with builds covering Minecraft 1.13 to 26.3 alongside Paper, Purpur, Spigot and Bukkit.

When does AxInventoryRestore take a backup?

It saves when a player dies, joins, quits or changes world. It also takes a timed backup every few minutes, which you can customize, and staff can create one manually with /axir save.

Which databases does AxInventoryRestore support?

It supports SQLite, H2, MySQL and PostgreSQL. Multi-server setups work when you use MySQL or PostgreSQL, and database operations are handled async where possible.
