BattleArena is a match and event framework for Paper servers. The BattleArena plugin lets an admin define arenas, duels, tournaments and minigames through config files, or extend it with custom modes written as separate plugins. It runs on the server side only, and players join with an ordinary Minecraft install.
Server software and versions
- Paper: Minecraft 1.19.4 to 26.2. The newest build needs no dependencies.
Matches and events
Active games are called competitions, and there are two native types. A match starts when a condition is met, such as a player count, or stays always active. An event starts on an interval or when an admin triggers it, and cannot be joined while inactive.
- Arena: a simple duel with the items the config provides.
- Skirmish: bring your own gear, always running, join and leave at any time.
- Colosseum: 4v4 team deathmatch, last team standing wins.
- Battlegrounds: a one-minute match won by the most kills.
- Free for All, Deathmatch and Tournament events, the first starting every 30 minutes, the second lasting two minutes with respawns, the third a bracket for any number of teams.
Modules and extensions
The base plugin is deliberately plain. Bundled modules add arena restoration from a WorldEdit schematic, a boundary enforcer, classes and kits, duels, One in the Chamber, scoreboards, team colors, team heads, tournaments and Vault integration. Arena details can be shown in other plugins through PlaceholderAPI.
Separate extensions add Spleef, Capture the Flag, Paintball and Parkour. Statistics and leaderboards come from the sister plugin BattleTracker.
Installation and setup
Place the plugin file in the plugins folder and restart. If you have not done this before, the guide on installing plugins on a Paper or Spigot server covers it. Arena settings live in .yml files under plugins/BattleArena/arenas, where you can edit, remove or add entries. Full user and developer guides are on the BattleDocs wiki.
Questions about BattleArena.
3 questions
How do I install BattleArena?
Put the plugin file into the plugins folder of a Paper server and restart it. Arena definitions then appear as .yml files in plugins/BattleArena/arenas, where you edit them. Players need nothing extra and join with a normal install.
What game modes does BattleArena include?
It includes four match types (Arena, Skirmish, Colosseum, Battlegrounds) and three event types (Free for All, Deathmatch, Tournament). Further modes such as Spleef, Capture the Flag, Paintball and Parkour come from separate extension plugins.
Does BattleArena track player statistics?
Not by itself. Statistics and leaderboards come from the sister plugin BattleTracker, which builds on BattleArena. Arena information can also be displayed through PlaceholderAPI in other plugins.
