LPC MiniMessage is a chat formatting plugin by Ayont that rewrites player chat with MiniMessage, pulling prefixes, suffixes and metadata from LuckPerms. It runs on Paper, Spigot, Folia and Purpur. It is server-side only, so players join with nothing extra installed.
Server software and versions
- Bukkit, Paper, Purpur and Spigot: Minecraft 1.20 to 26.2. The newest build needs no dependencies; some builds for 1.20 to 26.2 require LuckPerms.
- Folia: Minecraft 1.20 to 26.2. The newest build needs no dependencies; some builds for 1.21 to 26.2 require LuckPerms.
What it changes
The main format lives in config.yml and accepts placeholders such as {prefix}, {name}, {displayname}, {world} and {message}. You can override it per LuckPerms group or per track, and groups win over tracks. Ranks can also get gradient names. Chat formatting can be switched off in chosen worlds with disabled-worlds. Optional PlaceholderAPI support adds more placeholders.
- Social features, on by default: @mention pings, configurable emoji shortcuts such as , and clickable links.
- An [item] tag in chat that gives a hover tooltip on Paper, gated by the lpc.itemplaceholder permission.
- Moderation, off by default: anti-spam cooldown, repeat blocker, caps filter, profanity mask, anti-advertising and per-player mute.
- MiniMessage join, quit, first-join and death messages, also off by default.
Installation
- 1.Stop the server and place the LPC plugin file in the plugins folder. The general steps are in how to install plugins.
- 2.Start the server once to generate config.yml.
- 3.Edit the chat format and group formats.
- 4.Run /lpc reload to apply the changes.
Permissions and commands
Commands are /lpc reload, version, help, mute and unmute, with tab completion. Reload needs lpc.reload and muting needs lpc.mute, both op by default. Players need lpc.chatcolor to use colour codes and cosmetic tags in messages. Interactive tags such as click, hover and insertion are always stripped, so players cannot inject commands through chat. Each moderation filter has its own lpc.bypass node.
Questions about LPC MiniMessage - Chat Formatter.
3 questions
How do I install LPC MiniMessage?
Stop the server, put the LPC plugin file into the plugins folder, and start the server to generate config.yml. Edit the chat format, then run /lpc reload. Players need nothing installed, because the plugin runs only on the server.
Does LPC MiniMessage work on Folia?
Yes. Folia is listed among the supported server software, alongside Paper, Spigot and Purpur. LPC runs only on the server, so players join normally and need nothing extra installed. Installation follows the same steps as on other server software: place the plugin file in the plugins folder and restart.
Can players use colours or click events in chat?
Players with the lpc.chatcolor permission can use colour codes and cosmetic MiniMessage tags, and gradients if allowed in the config. Interactive tags such as click, hover and insertion are always stripped from player messages.
