Multiverse Portals

Multiverse Portals lets a Multiverse-Core host place portal frames that send players to other worlds, saved anchors or exact spots, and can even fire commands instead of a teleport. It runs on Bukkit, Paper, Purpur and Spigot, with fees and permissions set per portal.

Multiverse Portals is an add-on for Multiverse-Core that turns portal frames into teleporters to other Multiverse worlds, saved anchors or exact coordinates, and it can trigger commands instead of a teleport. It targets Bukkit, Paper, Purpur and Spigot hosts, and only the hosting instance needs the plugin installed, players need nothing extra to step through a portal.

Portal features

The frames support several toggles beyond simple teleporting:

  • Restrict specific portals to chosen permission groups
  • Charge a fee to use a portal, or exempt certain players from that fee
  • Launch anyone who steps through into the air
  • Let minecarts and boats pass through a portal
  • Run a command instead of teleporting, via a Multiverse Command Destination

Installing and the Core dependency

Drop the plugin file for the target loader into the plugins folder alongside Multiverse-Core; every loader's newest release, 5.3.0 from 2026-08-21, needs Core installed first or the add-on will not start. Bukkit, Paper and Spigot releases cover 1.13 through 26.3, while Purpur releases start later, at 1.18.2, and run through the same 26.3 ceiling.

The wider add-on family

dumptruckman's Multiverse ecosystem splits extra features into separate add-ons that all sit on top of Core: Multiverse-NetherPortals gives each overworld its own Nether and End, and Multiverse-Inventories splits stats and inventories by world or group. Multiverse-Portals stays focused on teleport frames rather than covering everything at once, so hosts wanting nether separation or inventory splitting need to add those separately.

Questions about Multiverse Portals.

5 questions

Does Multiverse Portals work without Multiverse-Core?

No. Every loader's release across 1.13 through 26.3 carries the same requirement, and the plugin will not start unless Multiverse-Core is already installed and enabled on the same host beforehand.

Which loaders does Multiverse Portals support?

Bukkit, Paper, Purpur and Spigot. Bukkit, Paper and Spigot cover releases 1.13 through 26.3, while Purpur starts later at 1.18.2 and runs to the same 26.3 ceiling, with the newest release, 5.3.0, published 2026-08-21.

Can players skip installing anything to use the portals?

Yes, only the hosting instance needs the plugin file in its plugins folder. Anyone joining simply steps through a placed frame with a normal install and needs nothing added on their own end.

How is Multiverse-NetherPortals different from Multiverse Portals?

Multiverse-NetherPortals gives each overworld its own separate Nether and End rather than sharing one across worlds. Multiverse Portals instead builds teleport frames that send players to any Multiverse destination, saved anchor or exact spot, including running commands.

Can using a portal cost anything?

Yes, portal owners can charge a fee to pass through a specific frame and exempt chosen players from that charge, on top of restricting who may use a given portal at all through permission nodes.
