UberEnchant is a server plugin for Bukkit, Spigot, Paper and Purpur that removes the usual limits on enchanting. It puts any enchantment on any item, from food to armor, at levels far above vanilla. Players join with a normal client, since all the work happens on the server.

Server software and versions

  • Bukkit, Paper, Purpur and Spigot: Minecraft 1.2.1 to 26.3. The newest build needs no dependencies.

What it changes

  • Add or remove enchantments on any item, with hide and show options. Minecraft caps levels at 255 internally.
  • Vanilla potion effects become custom effect enchantments, with meta tags such as duration, chance, on_held, on_consume, on_projectile and on_shield.
  • Item attributes can be added, set or removed with commands.
  • Enchantment tables gain custom enchantments, higher vanilla levels and a floor bonus from iron, gold, emerald, diamond and netherite blocks placed underneath.
  • Names and lore with color support, enchantment extraction to books, and economy support.
  • A custom enchantment API lets developers add their own enchantments.

Installation and setup

Drop the plugin file into the plugins folder and restart. The plugin install guide covers the steps. Economy features need Vault. Optional hooks cover WorldGuard flags (pvp, damage_animals, potion_splash) and Towny protections. ProtocolLib fixes the anvil's "Too Expensive" message, and effect enchantments appear beside ExcellentEnchants ones at the enchanting table.

The enchantment table mechanic can be switched off, or limited to chosen enchantments, in mechanics/enchantment_table.yml.

Questions about UberEnchant.

4 questions

Does UberEnchant need Vault?

Vault is required for the economy features. The newest release lists no dependencies, so the basic enchanting commands work without it. WorldGuard, Towny, ProtocolLib and ExcellentEnchants are optional hooks that add region flags, protections, an anvil fix and table compatibility.

What is the maximum enchantment level in UberEnchant?

Minecraft limits enchantment levels to 255 internally since 1.17, so that is the working ceiling on current releases. UberEnchant can still put any enchantment on any item, and the maximum level for vanilla enchantments at the enchantment table can be changed in the enchantment config. Enchantments do not stay on blocks once placed.

Do players need to install UberEnchant?

No. It is a server-side plugin that is required on the server and unsupported on the client. Players join with an ordinary Minecraft client, and the enchantments show up on the items they receive.

Does UberEnchant work with ExcellentEnchants?

Yes. Since release 8.12.1, UberEnchant's custom effect enchantments appear alongside ExcellentEnchants enchantments at the enchanting table, so the two can run on the same server.
