VillagerTradeEdit is a server plugin for Folia, Paper and Purpur that lets admins edit villager trades from a menu and turn a villager into a small shop. It runs on the server side only, so players install nothing. YusakiDev wrote it because Shopkeepers had no Folia support yet.
Server software and versions
- Folia: Minecraft 1.20 to 26.2. The newest build needs no dependencies.
- Paper and Purpur: Minecraft 1.21 to 26.2. The newest build needs no dependencies.
What it does
- Shift-right-click a managed villager to open the editor. Each column is one trade: what the player pays, an optional second item, and what they get.
- The editor also sets the villager's name (MiniMessage or legacy colours), profession, biome type and level.
- A plain right-click opens the trade window, and each player gets an individual window so several can trade at once. A permission can be required to trade.
- Managed villagers stay put, cannot be hurt and are not pushed by explosions. Trades are saved on the villager and restored when the chunk loads.
- Reputation, Hero of the Village and demand discounts are neutralised on managed villagers only. Other villagers keep vanilla behaviour.
- An optional config switch, mute-villager-sound, silences the villager "hmm".
Commands and permissions
- /vte summon spawns a managed villager. /vte select picks the one you are looking at.
- /vte list shows managed villagers with their IDs. /vte tp, /vte tphere and /vte moveto teleport or relocate one.
- /vte reload reloads the config.
- villagertradeedit.open allows opening the editor. villagertradeedit.command allows /vte, with per-subcommand nodes such as villagertradeedit.command.summon and villagertradeedit.command.reload.
Installation
- 1.Put the plugin file and YskLib 1.9.0 or newer in the plugins folder. The plugin install guide covers the basics.
- 2.Restart the server.
- 3.Run /vte summon, then shift-right-click the villager and add trades.
Questions about VillagerTradeEdit.
4 questions
How do I install VillagerTradeEdit?
Put the plugin file and YskLib 1.9.0 or newer in the plugins folder of a Folia, Paper or Purpur server running 26.1 or newer, then restart it. Run /vte summon to spawn a managed villager and shift-right-click it to add trades. Players do not install anything and join with a normal client.
Does VillagerTradeEdit work on Folia?
Yes. It was made for Folia, and its listed releases cover Folia from 1.20 to 26.2. Villager interactions are written to stay safe across Folia's region threads. It also runs on Paper and Purpur, so the same setup works on any of the three.
Do players need to install VillagerTradeEdit?
No. The plugin is required on the server and unsupported on the client side. Players trade with managed villagers through the normal trade window after joining the server as usual.
Does VillagerTradeEdit remove villager discounts?
On managed villagers, yes. Reputation, Hero of the Village and demand discounts are neutralised, so prices stay as you set them. Ordinary villagers on the same server keep their vanilla pricing.
