Chat Reporting Helper is a simplistic, vanilla-like 16x resource pack for Java that rewrites the in-game wording about chat reporting. Fabulously Optimized made it to swap technical, confusing phrases for short ones that take no side on whether reporting is good or bad. It runs on the player's side only and is bundled in the Fabulously Optimized modpack.
Supported versions
- Minecraft 1.19.4 to 26.3.
What changes in the interface
- Tooltips on the vanilla report buttons and chat indicators.
- The "messages can't be verified" warning toast.
- The "Only Show Secure Chat" label and tooltip.
- The description on the report text box.
- Status icons and tooltips from No Chat Reports.
The pack ships in several languages. If a changed phrase does not appear where you expect it, your language likely lacks a translation. Since 3.0 it reflects the newer reporting selection screen, and since 5.0 two phrases clarify chat restrictions.
What the status icons mean
Icons appear only with No Chat Reports installed. For vanilla indicators, hover the gray box beside a message. The icons cover five states: unknown until you send one chat message, no messages reportable, most messages reportable but the host does not prefer it and the player opts out, all messages reportable, and a Realms-only state where Mojang passively monitors chat. Some hosts block reporting without the icon showing it, so check Social Interactions to confirm.
How to install Chat Reporting Helper
- 1.Download the .zip from Modrinth.
- 2.Open Options, then Resource Packs, then Open Pack Folder, and drop the file in.
- 3.Move the pack to the Selected side of the Resource Packs screen.
A pack made for a different release still loads but shows an incompatibility warning. The resource pack install guide covers the steps in more detail.
Questions about Chat Reporting Helper.
4 questions
Do I need No Chat Reports to use Chat Reporting Helper?
No. The pack works alone and rewrites the vanilla tooltips, toast and labels. Pairing it with No Chat Reports is recommended because that mod adds the status icons, and it is currently the only way to get a consistent indicator that reporting is active on a host.
Is Chat Reporting Helper available for Bedrock?
No. It is a Java Edition resource pack and its Modrinth listing covers Java only. Bedrock uses a different pack format, so this file will not load there.
Why do I not see the changed wording in my game?
The most likely cause is a missing translation. The pack is available in several languages, but your selected language may not be covered. Check that the pack sits on the Selected side of the Resource Packs screen too.
Does Chat Reporting Helper turn chat reporting off?
No. It is an educational tool, not a protective one. It only rewrites phrases and does not hide indicators or the warning toast, edit report or ban reasons, or change the ban screen. It also takes no position on whether reportability is good or bad.
