GUI Retextures is a Java resource pack by frugbug that restyles the HUD and nearly every container screen. It is a small pack with a dark mode and optional configuration through Respackopts. It is a resource pack, so it needs no mod loader and is used on the player's own machine only.

Supported versions

  • Minecraft 1.19.4 to 26.3.

What changes visually

The pack retextures the HUD and pretty much every container in the game, with the aim of making the GUIs look more vibrant and interesting. A dark mode is available as a separate download.

  • Textures for the HUD.
  • Textures for pretty much every container in the game.
  • A dark mode variant, picked from the Versions tab on the Modrinth page.
  • Optional settings through Respackopts, which adds configurability to the pack.

How to install GUI Retextures

  1. 1.Open the Versions tab on Modrinth and pick the file for your release. Choose the dark mode file if you want the dark look.
  2. 2.Put the .zip in the resourcepacks folder (Options, Resource Packs, Open Pack Folder).
  3. 3.Move the pack to the Selected side of the Resource Packs screen.
  4. 4.Add Respackopts only if you want the configuration options.

Our install guide covers the same steps with more detail. A pack built for another release can still load but shows an incompatibility warning.

Limitations

This is a deliberately small pack, made to make the GUI and HUD look more vibrant.

Questions about GUI Retextures.

4 questions

How do I install GUI Retextures?

Get the .zip from the Versions tab on Modrinth and place it in the resourcepacks folder, which you can open from Options, Resource Packs, Open Pack Folder. Then move the pack to the Selected side of the Resource Packs screen. No mod or loader is needed.

Is GUI Retextures available for Bedrock?

No. It is a Java resource pack. Bedrock uses a different pack format, and the pack's page does not offer a Bedrock file. Java players on 1.19.4 and newer can use it directly.

How do I get the dark mode?

Dark mode is a separate file. Open the Versions tab on the Modrinth page and pick the dark mode download there, then install it like any other resource pack.

Does GUI Retextures work with older releases like 1.19.2 or 1.8?

Not through Modrinth. Files here start at 1.19.4. The creator points players on earlier releases, including 1.19.2 and 1.8, to a separate CurseForge page.
