What Colourful Containers BE: Java works with.

PlatformBedrock Edition
Minecraft versions1.21.2, 1.21.132, 26.0.02, 26.3, 26.20

Colourful Containers BE: Java is a 16x themed resource pack that brings colourful containers to Bedrock. Chests, furnaces, anvils and dozens of other menus lose their grey look and take on the colours of the block or mob they belong to. It is a pack, so it needs no loader, and it only works in Bedrock's classic UI layout.

Supported versions

  • Minecraft 1.21.2 to 26.20. The newest build optionally uses Colourful Container BE: Christmas Chests [Addon].

What changes visually

Nearly every container screen gets its own texture. That covers the anvil, barrel, beacon, brewing stand, crafter, crafting table, enchanting table, grindstone, hopper, loom, smithing table and stonecutter. The cartography table, enchanting table and ender chest are animated, the crafter has reactive textures, and the mount screen is revamped. Villager menus change with the profession. A dark mode subpack is included.

  • Coloured shulker boxes, one texture per dye colour.
  • Wood-type textures for chest boats.
  • Profession-based villager and wandering trader screens.
  • Optional brewing stand compatibility with the VDX Brewing Guide UI pack.

Colouring shulker boxes and chest boats

The colour variants rely on item names. The Colourful Containers BE: Script pack renames items automatically. Without it, rename the item in an anvil and put a colour prefix at the start of the name. Lime, for example, is §a§r. Remove the empty space at the end of the item name. An unprefixed name gives the default purple.

How to install

  1. 1.Open the pack file with Bedrock so it imports. The add-on install guide covers manual folders.
  2. 2.Activate it under Resource Packs in your world's settings.
  3. 3.Set the gui setting to classic, not pocket.
  4. 4.For dark mode, activate the subpack, then restart if it does not apply.

Questions about Colourful Containers BE: Java.

4 questions

Does Colourful Containers BE work with Pocket UI?

No. The creator is focusing only on the classic UI layout and has said Pocket UI will not get compatibility. If the textures do not appear, make sure the gui setting is classic, not pocket. Dark mode, if you use it, may also need a restart after activating the subpack.

How do I get coloured shulker boxes with this pack?

Install the Colourful Containers BE: Script pack to rename items automatically, or rename the shulker box in an anvil with a colour prefix such as §a§r for lime. Remove the empty space at the end of the name. With no prefix, the box uses the default purple.

Is Colourful Containers BE: Java made for Java players?

No. It is a Bedrock-only pack, and Java cannot load Bedrock packs. Open the pack file with Bedrock to import it, then switch it on under Resource Packs in your world's settings. The pack applies per world, so activate it in each world where you want the coloured menus. It works only with the classic GUI setting.

Does the pack have a dark mode?

Yes. Dark mode is a subpack you switch on after activating the pack. If it does not apply straight away, restart Bedrock and check again.
