Java Item Tooltips

A simplistic 16x Bedrock resource pack that clears the item description from the HUD so a custom hotbar stays clean. A subpack lets shulkers be left out.

Java Item Tooltips is a simplistic 16x resource pack for Bedrock, built for players searching for java item tooltips on Bedrock who want the held item description handled differently. It targets the HUD text that appears above the hotbar and suits anyone running a custom hotbar layout. It works on Bedrock only, and Java cannot load it.

Supported versions

  • Minecraft 26.40.

What it changes

The pack hides the item descriptions on the HUD, which the creator pitches as the fix for a hotbar overlay that gets crowded by that text. The listing summary describes held item tooltips displaying like Java, with an option to exclude shulkers.

How to install Java Item Tooltips

  1. 1.Open the .mcpack file with Minecraft (double-click on Windows, open with Minecraft on phones and tablets). Our guide to installing add-ons on Bedrock covers the details.
  2. 2.Switch it on under Resource Packs in a world's settings, or add it to the global resources to apply it everywhere.
  3. 3.Pick a subpack if you want shulkers excluded. The creator suggests a type 1 subpack when custom items are involved.

The pack works in a world and on multiplayer once it is active, so there is no extra setup beyond enabling it.

Trade-offs

This is a single-purpose pack built around the HUD item description, with shulkers as the one thing you can leave out.

Questions about Java Item Tooltips.

3 questions

Does Java Item Tooltips work on Java Edition?

No. It is a Bedrock resource pack in .mcpack format, and Java cannot load that format. The name refers to the Java-style way held item descriptions are handled, not to the platform it runs on.

How do I exclude shulkers with Java Item Tooltips?

Shulkers can be excluded using subpacks. With add-ons that contain custom items, the exclusion may hit an error, and the creator recommends a type 1 subpack to avoid it.

Can I use Java Item Tooltips in every world?

Yes. You can switch it on inside a single world, or add it to the global resources so it applies across worlds. Once installed, it works right away, including in multiplayer.
