Realistic Rain is a Bedrock resource pack by Mod_MC that works as a better rain pack. It retextures raindrops and splash particles, thins the downpour and replaces the default rain sound with a recorded one. It runs on Android, iOS and Windows.
Supported versions
- Minecraft 1.18 to 26.40.
What changes visually and aurally
- Rain and splash particle textures are redrawn to look more natural.
- Fewer rain particles fall, and the ground splash particle is disabled. The creator says both cut the performance cost.
- The rain colour is adjusted, so a storm no longer looks like blue shower water.
- A real rain recording replaces the default sound, which the creator compares to FM radio static. It is set a little loud, and the Sound slider in audio settings controls it.
- Player skins pick up patches of water and tiny droplets in the rain.
Particles, sound and skin effects are configurable through the pack's subpack settings menu.
How to install Realistic Rain
- 1.Open the .mcpack file with Bedrock. On Windows a double-click does it, and on phones you choose to open it with the app.
- 2.Activate the pack under Global Resources in settings, so it applies to every world.
- 3.Move it to the top of your pack list so nothing overrides it.
- 4.Pick your subpack options for particles, sound and skin effects.
If the import fails or the pack does not show up, the guide on installing add-ons on Bedrock covers manual folder installs, and fixing add-ons that do not work covers the usual faults.

Questions about Realistic Rain.
4 questions
Is Realistic Rain available for Java?
No. It is a Bedrock resource pack, and Java uses a different pack format, so it cannot load there. It works on Android, iOS and Windows wherever Bedrock is installed. Java players need a separate rain pack built for their own format.
Does Realistic Rain lower performance?
The creator says it needs no extra resources from your device. Fewer rain particles and disabled ground splash particles are meant to improve performance, and the creator says the splash change helps drastically. Results depend on your device, so treat that as the creator's claim.
Why is the rain pack not working with my other packs?
Another pack is probably overriding the rain. Move Realistic Rain to the top of your Global Resources list. Packs that change rain textures, rain sounds or rain particles will still conflict with it, because they replace the same assets.
Can I change the rain sound volume?
Yes. The creator set the rain sound a little high on purpose, and the Sound slider in audio settings controls it. The pack's subpack settings menu also lets you configure the sound, particle and skin effect options.
