Vanilla Experience+ is a 16x Java resource pack by Kryqu that improves, refines and fixes textures, models and small details while keeping the vanilla style. It has no loader requirement and works on its own, with optional mods unlocking extra variants. Anyone searching for a vanilla experience+ pack that does not repaint everything will find a conservative option here.
Supported versions
- Minecraft 1.18.2 to 26.3.
How to install Vanilla Experience+
- 1.Get the .zip from the CurseForge page.
- 2.In Options > Resource Packs, choose Open Pack Folder and drop the .zip inside.
- 3.Move the pack to the Selected side of the screen.
The full steps are in the guide to installing resource packs. A pack built for another release can still load but shows an incompatibility warning. If you chose the matching file, the warning is safe to ignore.
What changes visually
The pack covers a wide spread of small upgrades rather than one big restyle. Examples include animated campfire items, a circular sun and moon, twinkling stars, varied bookshelves and red mushroom blocks, visual honey stages, note block pitch display, lowered fire and shield, a translucent pumpkin overlay and fixed dripleaf stems. Several pieces are adapted from other artists, including the ender chest from Reijvi's Chests Reimagined, selected Vanilla Tweaks packs and Stormilla items by StormDragon77.
Companion mods and settings
Respackopts lets you enable, disable and customise many features, so you can keep only the changes you like. Mob variants need OptiFine or Entity Texture Features. Some unique item variants before 1.21.5 need CIT Resewn. None of these are required to run the pack.
Known limitations
Potion symbol textures exist only on 1.21.5 or newer. Without OptiFine or ETF, extra mob textures stay vanilla. Assets cannot be lifted into your own pack without Kryqu's permission.
Questions about Vanilla Experience+.
4 questions
Does Vanilla Experience+ need OptiFine?
No. The pack runs without OptiFine, ETF or CIT Resewn. OptiFine or Entity Texture Features is only needed for the extra mob variants, and CIT Resewn adds some unique item variants on releases before 1.21.5.
Is Vanilla Experience+ available for Bedrock?
This page covers the Java pack only. A separate Bedrock pack exists, and Kryqu's own FAQ points to it. Bedrock uses a different format, so the Java .zip is not meant for it.
Why does Vanilla Experience+ show an incompatibility warning?
A pack built for another release can still load but shows an incompatibility warning. If you picked the file made for your release, everything works and you can ignore the warning. If the pack fails to load, check that the file matches your release.
Can I add Vanilla Experience+ to a modpack?
Yes. Kryqu allows inclusion in modpacks as a dependency, and private use is fine. Reusing or redistributing the pack's assets in your own pack needs explicit permission.
