Visible Ores is a 16x resource pack for Java Edition that gives every ore except coal a glowing outline, so veins read clearly in dark caves. It was made for shaders, which tend to darken caves and hide ore. It needs the Continuity mod to work.
Supported versions
- Minecraft 1.15 to 26.1.2.
What changes visually
The pack combines two techniques, emissive textures and connecting textures. The emissive part makes each ore glow, so it keeps its contrast when a shader pulls the light down. The connecting part draws a clean border that links neighbouring ore blocks, which makes a vein easier to follow as a single shape.
The outline also helps when ore is half buried. Ore partly hidden in lava, behind other blocks or in awkward corners still shows its edge. The look stays close to vanilla, so the pack improves readability without turning caves into a light show.
- Diamond, emerald, copper, redstone, lapis, gold and iron ore
- Raw ore blocks
- Nether ores
- Coal is excluded and keeps its vanilla texture
How to install Visible Ores
- 1.Install the Continuity mod first. The pack does nothing useful without it.
- 2.Download the .zip from CurseForge and leave it zipped.
- 3.In Minecraft, open Options, then Resource Packs, then Open Pack Folder, and drop the .zip in.
- 4.Move Visible Ores to the Selected side of the Resource Packs screen.
A pack built for another release can still load but shows an incompatibility warning. For a longer walkthrough, see the resource pack install guide.
Known limitations
The scope is narrow by design. Only ores change, and coal is left alone, so players who want every ore highlighted will notice the gap. The pack is aimed at shader setups, where the contrast gain is most obvious.
Visible Ores Resource Pack Review
Questions about Visible Ores.
4 questions
Does Visible Ores need a mod to work?
Yes. The pack requires the Continuity mod to work, and nothing else is listed as required. Install Continuity first, then add the resource pack zip to your resourcepacks folder and enable it on the Resource Packs screen. Without the mod, the pack will not work.
Does Visible Ores work with shaders?
It was created for use with shaders. Shaders often make caves darker and reduce how visible ore is, and the glowing outlines restore contrast. The pack does not name specific shader packs, so check your own setup if the glow looks off.
Does Visible Ores highlight coal ore?
No. Every ore is outlined except coal, which keeps its vanilla texture. The covered blocks are diamond, emerald, copper, redstone, lapis, gold and iron ore, raw ore blocks and the nether ores.
Is Visible Ores available for Bedrock?
No. It is a Java Edition resource pack, and Bedrock uses a different pack format. Java players can use it from Minecraft 1.15 up to 26.1.2 with Continuity installed.
