Animated Ore is a vanilla-like 16x resource pack for Java that swaps ore blocks for animated textures, with several variants per block. It is an animated ore resource pack in the plainest sense: it changes ores and little else.

How to install Animated Ore
- 1.Open Options, then Resource Packs, then Open Pack Folder.
- 2.Drop the pack's .zip file into that folder.
- 3.Move the pack to the Selected side of the Resource Packs screen.
A pack made for another release can still load, but it shows an incompatibility warning. Our guide to installing resource packs covers the screen in more detail.
What changes visually
Ore blocks gain animated textures and more than one look per ore, so a wall of stone no longer repeats a single tile. The glow is emissive and optional. OptiFine handles it when Emissive Textures is switched on, which is the default. Continuity is the recommended mod for it and needs Sodium 0.6.0 or later. Without either mod, the pack falls back on the emissive handling already in the default resources.
Mod ores and other packs
Native support covers ores from Universal Ores, Deeper and Darker, Weeping Angels, Aether, Ancient Aether, More Ore Stones, Alex's Caves, Gems And Crystals, Spelunkery, Clay Overhaul, Actually Additions, Create, Oritech and Mekanism. Excavated Variants is the one listed mod that does not work with it. The pack also pairs with Stay True and Fresh Textures. Place that second pack above Animated Ore in the list, or the combination will not work.

Does Animated Ore need OptiFine?
No. The emissive glow is optional. OptiFine can provide it with Emissive Textures enabled, and Continuity can provide it when Sodium 0.6.0 or later is installed. With neither mod, the pack still loads and uses the emissive handling in the default resources.
Is Animated Ore available for Bedrock?
No. This pack is for Java only. Animated Ore is the 16x pack by gitq, hosted on Modrinth.
Does Animated Ore work with other resource packs?
Yes, with limits. Stay True and Fresh Textures are listed as supported. Put the other pack above Animated Ore in the Selected list, because the combination does not work otherwise. Because Animated Ore only restyles ores, the other pack supplies everything else.
Which mods' ores does Animated Ore cover?
It has native support for Deeper and Darker, Alex's Caves, Aether, Create, Mekanism, Oritech, Spelunkery and several more. Excavated Variants is the listed exception and is incompatible. More mod support is planned, so the list is still growing.
