CTMPOMFIX Shader (Chocapic13' Shaders edit)

A realistic, highly customizable edit of Chocapic13's shaders that adds seamless 3D textures, PBR lighting, live texture upscaling and optional path tracing. Low presets switch the heavy effects off.

CTMPOMFIX shader is a realistic, PBR-capable edit of Chocapic13's shaders for Java, made by timetravelbeard. It runs on Iris and on OptiFine, although OptiFine releases have stopped. Its headline trick is seamless connected textures with parallax occlusion mapping, which gives 3D textures with variations and blended transitions between blocks.

Shader loaders and versions

  • Iris: Minecraft 1.19 to 1.21.11.
  • OptiFine: Minecraft 1.19 to 1.21.4, builds stopped after February 2025.

What it adds to Chocapic13's base

  • CTMPOMFIX, seamless connected textures with POM. Mossy cobblestone and cobblestone, for example, blend with 3D transitions.
  • Live texture upscaling in game, with more upscaling algorithms planned.
  • A new lighting system with PBR support, deep light scattering and optional path tracing.
  • Distant Horizons support with Iris.

Every addition can be turned off and is highly customizable. Most of the code is Chocapic13's. The CTMPOMFIX 3D texture code and the PBR lighting rework are timetravelbeard's own. Page screenshots mostly pair the pack with the "resource pack from the future" for seamless 3D textures and Patrix for everything else.

Performance and stability

Ray tracing is the expensive part. Choosing one of the low presets in the shader settings turns all of it off, and ray tracing performance is due to improve once more features land. The pack is confirmed to work on NVIDIA and AMD hardware.

Installation

  1. 1.Install Iris on Fabric or NeoForge, or use OptiFine, as covered in the shader install guide.
  2. 2.Put the pack's .zip in the shaderpacks folder.
  3. 3.Open Video Settings, then Shader Packs, and select CTMPOMFIX. Switch to a low preset first if frame rates drop.

Questions about CTMPOMFIX Shader (Chocapic13' Shaders edit).

4 questions

How do I install the CTMPOMFIX shader?

Install Iris on Fabric or NeoForge, or use OptiFine, then place the pack's .zip in the shaderpacks folder. Open Video Settings, choose Shader Packs and select the pack. Bedrock cannot run Iris or OptiFine, so this pack is for Java only.

Does CTMPOMFIX work with Distant Horizons?

Distant Horizons with Iris is listed among the pack's features. The pack is also confirmed on NVIDIA and AMD hardware, and on both Iris and OptiFine. The heavier lighting options cost frames, so switch to a low preset if distant terrain slows things down.

Why is CTMPOMFIX running at low FPS?

The optional ray tracing is the main cost. Selecting one of the low presets in the shader settings turns all ray tracing off in one step. Further performance work on ray tracing is planned, so heavy settings may get cheaper in later releases of the pack.

Which CTMPOMFIX release is the stable one?

Release 1.4 is described as a completed shader with many features and no known bugs, but it lacks PBR support and the new lighting. Releases from 1.5 onward add that lighting and look better, though they are less polished while it is reworked.
