Construct

Construct projects a hologram of a saved structure and helps you place it correctly in survival. It is a Bedrock-only addon that needs the Beta APIs experiment.

Construct is a Minecraft Bedrock addon by ForestOfLight that moves creative-mode designs into survival worlds. It shows a hologram of a saved structure and guides you as you place it. The creator calls it the closest thing Bedrock has to Litematica. It is Bedrock only, and it is meant for solo and multiplayer building alike.

Supported versions

  • Minecraft 1.21.70 to 26.50.

What it adds

  • Structure hologram, a projected preview of the structure you are working on.
  • Easy Place, which always places blocks in the correct state.
  • Block Validation, which highlights incorrect blocks.
  • Material Grabbing, which pulls required materials from chests in one click.
  • Layered Building, for working through a structure one layer at a time.
  • Structure Management, to create and edit many structure instances at once.

How to install Construct

Import the .mcaddon file like any other pack, following the add-on install guide if you need the steps. Then switch on the pack in your world settings and enable the Beta APIs experiment.

Run /construct:construct to receive the Construct item, also found in the Creative inventory under the Items tab. Using it opens the menu where you create, edit and delete structure instances. The Builder Settings tab holds the Easy Place and Material Grabbing options. Naming the item after an instance selects that instance automatically.

Adding your own structures

Construct reads Minecraft's vanilla structure system. Saving a structure with a structure block or the /structure command adds it to the list, but only for that world. To reuse a structure elsewhere:

  1. 1.Move the Construct[BP] folder into your com.mojang/development_behavior_packs folder.
  2. 2.Drop your .mcstructure file into Construct[BP]/structures.
  3. 3.Restart your world, and the structure appears in the list.

If your device cannot export .mcstructure files, export the world and use the Extract From World feature on holoprint-mc.github.io. If it cannot manage game files at all, sea-of-stars-studio.github.io turns an uploaded .mcstructure into a .mcpack you add to the same world as Construct.

The trade-off is setup. Beta APIs must stay on, and moving structures between worlds takes a few manual steps on some devices.

Questions about Construct.

3 questions

How do I install Construct on Bedrock?

Open the .mcaddon file with Minecraft so it imports, then activate the behavior pack in your world's settings. Enable the Beta APIs experiment before loading the world. Once inside, run /construct:construct to receive the Construct item and open its menu.

Does Construct need experimental toggles?

Yes. Construct needs the Beta APIs experiment enabled in the world settings, and its creator stresses not forgetting it. Install the addon like any other, switch on the behavior pack for your world, then run /construct:construct to get the Construct item and open its menu.

Is Construct the Bedrock version of Litematica?

The creator describes Construct as the closest thing Bedrock has to Litematica, and calls it Bedrock Edition's Litematica. It offers a structure hologram, block validation and material grabbing for moving builds from creative to survival. It is a Bedrock addon with its own item and menu, opened with /construct:construct.
