NewBows is a new bows addon for Bedrock that adds 24 custom bows, each with its own matching arrow. It is built for survival and multiplayer, needs no experimental toggles and does not use player.json. Every bow fires its own ammunition, so the right arrows must be in your inventory.
Supported versions
- Minecraft 1.21 to 26.40.
What it adds
The V3.0 Archery Update turns the bows into a progression system. Each bow levels up separately through Mastery, and releasing inside the green Perfect Shot window deals extra damage. Twelve Techniques unlock on advanced bows, and bows without a Technique gain a permanent passive Specialization instead. Shots from 30+ blocks count toward long-shot progress.
- Mastery I needs 15 hits and widens the Perfect Shot window.
- Mastery II needs 35 hits and 8 Perfect Shots, and unlocks the Technique or Specialization.
- Mastery III needs 75 hits, 20 Perfect Shots and 8 hits from 30+ blocks. Perfect Shot bonus damage rises from +2 to +4 and the Technique cooldown drops from 18 to 15 seconds.
The bows work with vanilla bow enchantments, Unbreaking is respected, and special arrows get custom Infinity handling. Bows are grouped into Survival, Elemental, Utility and Legendary categories, and Glowstone and Ender bows received fixes for dynamic lighting and teleport safety.
The Archery Manual
Every player receives the Archery Manual on first joining the world. It holds the Bow Codex (damage, durability, required ammunition, main ability, how each bow is obtained and its Technique), Mastery progress, a Techniques guide, settings and a how-to-play page. A lost Manual is crafted from 1 book and 1 arrow. Settings are split between personal and operator controls, and Mastery info in bow lore can be hidden.
How to install NewBows
- 1.Open the file from CurseForge with Minecraft Bedrock so it imports.
- 2.Create or edit a world and switch on the addon's packs under Behavior Packs and Resource Packs. Leave the Experiments toggles alone.
- 3.Join the world, take the Archery Manual and check the Bow Codex for how to obtain each bow.
If the import fails or the packs do not show up, the add-on install guide covers the steps in detail.
