The Minecraft farming mods below are Java Edition only, and the right one depends on your loader and on how much food you want. Farmer's Delight is the most downloaded of the group and the base that two other picks extend, and Right Click Harvest is the pick for harvesting and replanting with a right click. All nine come from the food category of our Java mod listing.
How we picked these farming and cooking mods
We chose from the 20 Java mods we list in the food category. Sixteen of those pages come from Modrinth and carry a download count, read on 9 October 2026. Eleven of the 20 are not cooking or farming mods, so we left them out. The remaining Modrinth picks are ordered by downloads, and Croptopia comes last because its page is on CurseForge and has no Modrinth count. We did not benchmark or play-test any of them. Downloads favour older projects, and a count is not a score.

The base mod for farming and cooking
Farmer's Delight
Farmer's Delight
@vectorwing · Java Mod
Checked Source and install notes
Pick this if you want one mod that covers both halves of the topic. Its page describes a simple cooking system, a way to improve the soil your crops grow in, new tools and weapons, and decorations. Ocean's Delight and Expanded Delight extend it, so it is also the entry point if you plan to add either. The repository carries an MIT licence file. The limit is loaders: Modrinth lists NeoForge and Forge releases only, with no Fabric release, so check your loader before you plan a modpack around it.
Quicker harvesting and replanting
Right Click Harvest
Right Click Harvest
@Jamalam · Java Mod
Checked Source and install notes
Choose this when the chore you want gone is harvesting. Its page says a right click harvests a crop and replants the seeds, covers vanilla crops such as cocoa beans, cactus and sugar cane, and handles 99.9% of modded crops without extra setup (its own figure). Whether a hoe is required, a hunger cost and a wider radius for higher tier hoes are all configurable. The limit is where it must live: it is required on the server and optional on the player side. Dependencies differ by loader. The newest Fabric and Quilt builds need JamLib and Fabric API, the newest NeoForge build needs JamLib, and the newest Forge build needs JamLib and Architectury API. Older builds differ.
More crops and dishes
Ocean's Delight
Ocean's Delight
@Scouter567 · Java Mod
Checked Source and install notes
Choose this if you already run Farmer's Delight and want the sea to feed you. Its page calls it an addon that adds culinary content built from ocean creatures, and lists Farmer's Delight as a required dependency. Fabric and NeoForge releases are current, while Forge releases stopped on 2023-11-23. The limit is scope: it adds meals rather than farming, and it does nothing on its own. The repository holds the Forge LGPL 2.1 text while Modrinth labels it MIT, so the licence terms are unclear.
Expanded Delight
Expanded Delight
@ianm1647 · Java Mod
Checked Source and install notes
Pick this to add more crops, blocks and workstations on top of Farmer's Delight. Its page says it gradually expands the base mod, and the current NeoForge releases are marked beta. The limit is stability and loaders: the page says the mod is under development and may be unstable, Fabric and Quilt releases stopped on 2024-09-09, and we found no licence file in its repository.
Croptopia
Croptopia
@thethonk · Java Mod
Checked Source and install notes
Pick this for sheer crop variety. Its CurseForge page lists 58 ground crops, 26 tree crops and over 250 foods, plus a guide book that needs the optional Patchouli mod. The 57,158,708 downloads shown on CurseForge are a different platform's count, so we do not rank them against the Modrinth numbers. The limit is a required library: recent releases need EpheroLib, which we have no page for. The licence file reads all rights reserved, so check the author's terms before adding it to a modpack.
Themed food for wine makers and Cobblemon players
Let's Do Vinery
Let's Do Vinery
@satisfyu · Java Mod
Checked Source and install notes
Choose this if your farm exists to make wine. Its page describes picking wild grapes, pressing them, fermenting the juice in barrels and ageing it, with an apple press, lattices, furniture and winemaker's attire alongside. Fabric and NeoForge releases are current, but Forge builds stopped on 2025-09-05 and Quilt on 2025-01-25. It needs Architectury API, and the newest Fabric release also needs Cloth Config API. Its licence file is All Rights Reserved on the resource directories.
CobbleCuisine
CobbleCuisine
@fyre520 · Java Mod
Checked Source and install notes
This is for Cobblemon players only. Its page calls it an addon that adds curries, sandwiches, shakes and roasted berries, with effects that change which Pokémon spawn, and it also plants bean seeds that grow into beanstalks. The limit is a hard dependency on Cobblemon, plus Cobblemon: Mega Showdown for the newest alpha release. The page says it is still in beta and advises backing up worlds. Only Fabric is listed, and NeoForge works through Sinytra Connector according to the page.
Kitchens and farm utilities
Cooking for Blockheads
Cooking for Blockheads
@BlayTheNinth · Java Mod
Checked Source and install notes
Pick this if you run many food mods and lose track of recipes. Its Cooking Table lists what you can make with the ingredients you hold, and the kitchen grows through cupboards, a sink and an oven. Its page says it supports Pam's Harvestcraft and many other food mods. It requires Balm on every loader, plus Fabric API on Fabric. The limit is the licence: the repository reads All Rights Reserved, with modpack permissions handled through the author's permissions page.
Farming for Blockheads
Farming for Blockheads
@BlayTheNinth · Java Mod
Checked Source and install notes
Choose this for farm machinery rather than new crops. Its page lists a Market block that sells seeds and saplings, a Chicken Nest, a Feeding Trough, sprinklers and fertilizer, and says the trades can be changed in the config. It pairs naturally with Cooking for Blockheads from the same author, and needs Balm too. The limit is that it adds utilities, not food, so it suits a world that already has crops. The licence is All Rights Reserved.
Which one to pick
Start with your loader. Farmer's Delight and Expanded Delight are the two picks without a current Fabric release, while the other seven list one. After that, decide whether you want cooking depth (Farmer's Delight and its addons), faster harvesting (Right Click Harvest), crop variety (Croptopia) or kitchen and farm tools (the two Blockheads mods). Loader differences are covered in Fabric vs Forge vs NeoForge, and the steps are in how to install mods on Java. Everything else we list for the topic is on the Java mods page.
