Shulkercraft's Essentially Enhanced is a Fabric modpack for Minecraft Java that chases high frame rates and a better-looking vanilla world at once. It runs only on the player's side, so it works in any single-player world and on any server that accepts vanilla players. It was designed alongside Essentially Optimized and shares its performance foundation.

What's included
The pack changes how the world looks and runs without adding content. No blocks, items or mobs are altered, which is why it stays compatible with vanilla worlds. Its own test, run at 32 chunks of render and shadow distance, shows an average of 608 FPS against 152 in vanilla, with minimums of 442 and 114.

- Looks: Fresh Animations for livelier mobs, 3D Skin Layers, Continuity for connected textures, and 3D resource packs for rails, doors, crops, lanterns and chains.
- OptiFine-style extras: zoom, connected textures, dynamic lights and in-depth video settings.
- Small fixes: Make Bubbles Pop, No Pumpkin Blur and Low On Fire.
How to install Essentially Enhanced

Trade-offs
Looks cost some speed. Essentially Optimized pushes for raw frame rate, while this pack gives up a small share of that for 3D models and richer animations. It still runs several times faster than vanilla in the pack's own numbers. There are no plans to backport it to older releases.

Do I need Essentially Enhanced on the server too?
No. The pack is purely for the player's side and adds no content-altering mods. It works on any server that allows vanilla players, so server owners change nothing. Installing it on a dedicated server is unsupported and would serve no purpose.
Will Essentially Enhanced come to older Minecraft releases?
There are no plans to backport it. The creators say they might reconsider if demand is high. Their focused, simple approach is meant to let them update quickly when new Minecraft releases arrive.
What is the difference between Essentially Enhanced and Essentially Optimized?
Essentially Optimized aims for the highest raw FPS. Essentially Enhanced trades a small amount of that speed for visuals such as Fresh Animations, 3D Skin Layers, connected textures and 3D resource packs. Both are client-side packs built on the same foundation.
Does Essentially Enhanced replace OptiFine?
It covers many of the features players want from OptiFine, including zoom, connected textures, dynamic lights and detailed video settings, using Fabric mods such as Zoomify, Continuity and Dynamic Lights.
