Simply Optimized & Up to Date is a Fabric modpack for Minecraft Java built around one goal: more frames per second without touching gameplay. It packages a short list of proven performance mods, Sodium, Lithium, FerriteCore, Entity Culling, and Starlight among them, with no extra content, textures, or quality-of-life mods bundled in. That narrow focus makes it a good fit for low-RAM PCs, aging laptops, and school or work computers that struggle to hold a steady frame rate in vanilla Minecraft.
What's included
- Sodium: rewrites Minecraft's rendering engine for a large FPS boost on the same settings.
- Lithium: optimizes game logic and physics without changing how anything behaves.
- FerriteCore: reduces memory allocation, which keeps the total RAM footprint close to vanilla.
- Entity Culling: skips rendering entities the camera can't actually see.
- Starlight: replaces Minecraft's lighting engine with a faster implementation, especially on world load.
The pack is a continuation of the original Simply Optimized project. After its original creator, HyperSoop, discontinued the project, maintainer theoclouds picked it up to keep the mod list current with each new Fabric loader release and Minecraft version, while keeping the same minimal, performance-first approach.
Installation
- 1.Install a Fabric-compatible profile manager, such as the Modrinth App, Prism, or GDLauncher.
- 2.Open the Simply Optimized & Up to Date page on Modrinth and pick the pack version that matches the Minecraft version you want to play.
- 3.Import the .mrpack file into your app, or use its built-in Modrinth browser to install the pack directly.
- 4.Launch the new instance. Fabric Loader and every listed mod install automatically, so there is no manual mod folder setup.
RAM and hardware fit
Because the pack only adds optimization mods and skips content, shaders, and quality-of-life additions, its memory use stays close to plain vanilla Minecraft. FerriteCore specifically trims memory allocation rather than adding to it, so the pack tends to fit comfortably inside a 3 to 4GB Java heap allocation on machines that would otherwise choke on vanilla Minecraft with default settings.
Multiplayer and server use
Both the client and server sides are optional for this pack, so it works either as a client-only install joining a vanilla server, or as a matching client and server pair for a small multiplayer world that wants consistent performance gains for everyone connected.
How it stacks up against other optimization packs
Simply Optimized is a recurring name in third-party comparisons of Fabric optimization modpacks, usually noted for shipping the smallest mod list of the group. That smaller footprint is the trade-off for the RAM and hardware benefits: fewer mods to configure, but also fewer bundled extras than heavier optimization packs.

Questions about Simply Optimized & Up to Date.
5 questions
How do I install Simply Optimized & Up to Date?
Download the .mrpack file from the Modrinth project page, then open it with a Fabric-compatible profile manager such as the Modrinth App, Prism, or GDLauncher. The app builds a new instance with the correct Fabric loader and mod versions already installed, so you just start it and play.
How much RAM does Simply Optimized & Up to Date need?
Because the pack only adds optimization mods like Sodium, Lithium, and FerriteCore, and no extra content or textures, memory use stays close to vanilla Minecraft. It typically fits within a 3 to 4GB Java heap allocation, which makes it a solid pick for older laptops and low-spec desktops.
Does Simply Optimized & Up to Date work on multiplayer servers?
Yes. Both the client and server side are listed as optional, so the same mod list runs on a dedicated server for consistent gains, or players can join a plain vanilla server with just the client-side pack installed on their own machine.
Which Minecraft version does Simply Optimized & Up to Date support?
The pack tracks current Fabric releases with published versions spanning Minecraft 1.16.5 through the latest 1.21.x builds. Check the versions list on the Modrinth project page for the exact build that matches the Minecraft version you want to play.
Can I add my own mods to Simply Optimized & Up to Date?
Yes. The pack is deliberately a bare performance base with little to no quality-of-life or gameplay content, so it works well as a starting point you can drop your own Fabric mods into without fighting existing feature overlap.
