CalcMod is a calculator that lives in your chat. Type /calc followed by an expression or a utility command and the answer appears below your message. It runs on Fabric, Quilt, Forge and NeoForge, and it is optional on both the client and the server.

Loaders and versions

  • Fabric: Minecraft 1.14 to 26.3. The newest build needs no dependencies; some builds for 1.14 to 26.1.2 require Fabric API.
  • Quilt: Minecraft 1.19 to 26.3. The newest build needs no dependencies; builds for 1.19 to 1.21.8 require Fabric API.
  • Forge: Minecraft 1.12.2 to 26.2. The newest build needs no dependencies.
  • NeoForge: Minecraft 26.1 to 26.2. The newest build needs no dependencies.

What the /calc command does

The base calculator handles addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, powers, factorials, modulo, percentages, tetration and square, cube and fourth roots. Run /calc variables to see the built-in variables. Green result text is clickable and goes straight to your clipboard. Since 1.6.0 you can also bind a key in the vanilla controls to open /calc faster.

  • Crafting: /calc craft returns every ingredient for a quantity of a recipe, with an optional recursion depth. /calc craftinv shows how many of an item your inventory can make, shulker boxes included.
  • Storage: /calc storage gives the number of item sorters needed for an hourly rate. /calc allaystorage covers Allay-based sorters.
  • Redstone: /calc signaltoitems finds the item count for a chosen comparator power level.
  • Piglin bartering: /calc barter togold and toitem give average gold ingots needed or items received.
  • Travel: /calc nether and /calc overworld convert portal coordinates, and /calc dist measures distance, with a 3d mode that counts height.
  • Farms and numbers: /calc rates returns items per hour, /calc random picks a number in a range, and converters switch between shulker boxes and items.

Custom functions

You can save your own reusable formulas with /calc custom add, then call them from any number field as name(value). For example, a function defined as [numBlocks]*9 turns blocks into ingots. Run, list and remove subcommands manage them.

Installation

Install the loader for your Minecraft release first (see the guides on installing Fabric or Forge and NeoForge), then place the mod file in your mods folder. Players can run it alone on a client without the server having it, and a server can run it without clients having it. The trade-off is scope: it is a chat tool for numbers and recipes, with no new blocks, items or world changes.

Questions about CalcMod.

4 questions

Does CalcMod have a Paper build?

Modrinth lists Paper builds of CalcMod for Minecraft 1.21.5 to 26.2, alongside the Fabric, Quilt, Forge and NeoForge files. Each file is made for one loader, so pick the one that matches your setup.

Does CalcMod need to be installed on the server?

No. CalcMod works on a client when the server does not have it, and the reverse also holds. You can install it on both sides, but neither side is required.

How do I use CalcMod?

Open chat and type /calc followed by an expression such as 3+(28/8)^2, or a subcommand such as craft, storage, barter or nether. Run /calc variables to list the built-in variables.

Why does the craft command not find some recipes?

On Minecraft 1.21.3 and later, the craft command only uses recipes unlocked in your recipe book, and only in single player. Unlock the recipe first and run the command again.
